Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
If you don't mind me saying, I have no nostalgia for what my NES looked like prior to Tim's NESRGB.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hey guys!
I recently purchased an XRGB-Mini (wooo!) and I am currently awaiting for to arrive here in Ireland. Should be any day now.
I'm a bit of a plum when it comes to things like this so I have some questions.
I use RGB on all my consoles including an RGB modded N64. I've used the RGB cable from my N64 on both my GC and SNES and it works fine.
Is this same cable alright for the XRGB-Mini or would I need three separate ones?
I'm also confused about the power supply, can I simply take the stock Japanese power supply and stick a plug adapter on it?
http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/ ... 4DUVuQ.jpg
I've done it with those generic cheap scalers and it worked fine.
Finally, I purchased the Euro SCART adapter for the mini without the sync strip. Will this be fine for me with the latest mini firmware?
Thanks a bunch! Super stoked to receive my mini.

You should be fine with the SCART RGB cable you're using if you connect it to the euro SCART adapter you ordered, and not the JP21 RGB adapter that is included with the mini.GenesisBits wrote:I use RGB on all my consoles including an RGB modded N64. The AC adapter included with the mini is NOT full range, so you'd need a 240VAC to 100VAC step-down transformer, or use a different AC adapter all together - 5VDC 3A rating with the correct plug/polarity.GenesisBits wrote:I'm also confused about the power supply, can I simply take the stock Japanese power supply and stick a plug adapter on it?

I think I may need to buy a new power adapter in that case. I have some lying around but I'm not 100% sure if they are suitable. Is 3A necessary?
This is something I had from a previous scaler, is it any good?

I don't think the connector will fit

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
The stock adapter is 5VDC 2.5A. You want something with at least that current capability to avoid malfunction or damage to the unit.
For basic questions be sure to refer to the XRGB-mini wiki before asking questions. Not saying you shouldn't ask questions, just that there is a wiki to answer such questions.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Can someone point me in the right direction. Quite a quite back I saw a recommended settings type thing for the xrgb mini. Does anyone have that link?
Got my rgb modded n64 today. I there is definitely a difference coming from composite, but I can see while some would think it is minor. To me personally it is not a minor upgrade, clarity and color bleed has been improved quite a bit in my opinion.
Whatever the best settings would be for nes, Super Famicom and n64 all rgb moded. That would help me very much, thank you.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Have any of you guys hooked up a Game Gear to the framemeister? Did it just end up framing the 144 vertical res in the center of a 240p image and then up scaling it to your selected resolution?
If you did - did you use Tim's mod or something else?

HDMI Inputs scaling?
Hello all,
New member here with a question about the framemeister...I hope it's appropriate to post here.
I just purchased and Ouya console and since it only has hdmi output I was wondering if I could use a framemeister to make its video output scaled and appropriate to whichever emulator I am using, by placing it between the Ouya and my receiver.
Does all the scaling magic apply to hdmi inputs also when needed?
Thanks in advance for your help!

This wonderful package arrived for me today!

Can't wait to get stuck into it and experience some Mega Drive glory!
Unfortunately my XRGB power supply hasn't arrived yet. Should probably be here tomorrow. So tempted to throw on my PSP power supply and try it out but I don't want to risk damaging anything so I'll hold off. The temptation is strong though!

another hint ...Joelepain wrote:I think the mini even has problems with range on its input too.TheShadowRunner wrote: So assuming the Mini always outputs RGB full when it's outputting RGB, I don't understand why the SFC looks alright.
For example I take my pal rgb modded n64. If I launch the PAL SuperMario64 rom, the black levels are right. If I launch the NTSC SuperMario64 rom, the blacks are washout.
So same console, same cable, same game, mini output forced to RGB, and you have different results.
Could be the console video amp that output different level depending of the region, but that would be very surprising.
Simply because this RGB range problem has been a complete mess since the begining. It's not a problem with just the xrgb mini. Last gen consoles, pc graphic card drivers, WiiU, TV inputs, PC monitor inputs... it's the most absurd thing of video history.TheShadowRunner wrote: I also can't comprehend why the Mini outputs RGB full when the connected display is only compatible with RGB limited.
- PAL PS1 + NTSC games = perfect colors
- NTSC PS1 + PAL games = perfect colors
- PAL PS1 + PAL games = too dark picture
- NTSC PS1 + NTSC games = too dark picture
same applies for N64. colors are perfect, when using plain scart/rgb on my tv.
i also (accidentally) discovered the handshake bug. damn, i thought my mini is broken.

HDMI on the framemeister is for passthrough only so no.WeirdEdEdison wrote:Hello all,

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
you can enable passthrough, but you don't have to. If you don't you get full processing, e.g. deinterlacing, scaling or scanlines.HDMI on the framemeister is for passthrough only so no.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Oh my mistake then. I thought that was the entire point of the HDMI inputs.Fudoh wrote:you can enable passthrough, but you don't have to. If you don't you get full processing, e.g. deinterlacing, scaling or scanlines.HDMI on the framemeister is for passthrough only so no.
Seems redundant.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Well I'd think that most people would enable pass-through, since usually HDMI input means a newer HD console that you don't want processing added to. I personally use the pass-through just for convenience, otherwise I'd plug my newer stuff directly into the monitor.eightbitminiboss wrote:Oh my mistake then. Playing PAL games on NTSC = perfect colors but playing NTSC on NTSC = too dark? This makes no sense to me but I'm sure there is a good explanation for it.graubart wrote:another hint ...Joelepain wrote:I think the mini even has problems with range on its input too.TheShadowRunner wrote: So assuming the Mini always outputs RGB full when it's outputting RGB, I don't understand why the SFC looks alright.

If I understand correctly it means I can process the 1080p output of the Ouya console before it hits the monitor....am I right?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
you can, but it's pointless. As I told you by email, scanline overlay only makes sense if you can set your source to output in 480p.If I understand correctly it means I can process the 1080p output of the Ouya console before it hits the monitor....am I right?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
When using an official/unofficial RGB cable. Changing the color output mode of the mini has no effect.austin532 wrote: Playing PAL games on NTSC = perfect colors but playing NTSC on NTSC = too dark? Remove whatever SCART switch you are using from the chain and try again.Well. This happens (NTSC+NTSC=dark) on unmodded consoles too.

I don't use a switch.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
These problems have been discussed several times in this thread. The issue is in Mini, and a workaround is to write down and use 2 separate picture settings either in display or Mini (for example, I set Mini's brightness to 25 or 38 depending on the source/mode).graubart wrote:Well.
