Shikigami No Shiro II (Castle Shikigami 2) Live 1cc run using Niigi-1, not really scoring per se, just demonstrating how broken she can be in later stages.
How does that reflect subweapon thing work?

Also, out of curiosity, more than anything else, which platform / emulator are you playing on?

I can at least attempt to explain Niigi's reflection mechanic. From what I understand, you can absorb shots and after a second or so all those shots will go straight to enemies on screen (its a scatter if there aren't any enemies. not that useful). With the Niigi-1 that was used in that replay, your reflection ability is on a timer represented by a circle. Its pretty useful for clearing a path. Niigi-2 is pretty different in that instead of a timer, you carry some charge that is indicated by a circle that fills as you absorb more shots. Should also be worth noting that Niigi actually rotates when you use that.

I'm probably wrong in some aspects, but I am only saying what I know from when I played the PS2 version. But I think I explained the general idea.

So, there's gotta be at least a wait time between uses or something, right? That's mainly what I'm wondering, I guess. How is it kept from being super broken?

To answer your question on how Niigi's reflection isn't broken, I guess I will have to explain the scoring a bit (someone help me explain this since I'm not that experienced with scoring). From what I remember, the core of the scoring system involves a combination of using a character's shikigami attack and grazing. Killing with the shikigami will cause all enemy drops to be automatically collected. If you are grazing close enough to bullets, you increase the multiplier on the bottom left (I actually don't know if its a multiplier but it is still important towards scoring) as you collect the enemy drops and destroy enemies so its generally a good idea to graze and destroy with the shikigami attack.

As to how Niigi comes into mind, you pretty much have to know what to absorb and what not to to be able to auto-collect the enemy drops and graze bullets to increase that multiplier. If you compare Kaiser's run to Emuser's Sayo run, you'll notice that Emuser is getting to the extend score (400 million. I could be a 0 off) faster while he graze's bullets.

Sorry if that doesn't exactly answer it, but its the best way I can explain as to how Niigi isn't too broken as far as scoring is concern. The only other comment that I can think of is the fact that the cat on her has to take its time getting into position for bullet absorption (and the cat always returns to Niigi's back once you finish using the reflection ability). I could be wrong on this but I think any previous bullets that were absorbed and haven't been shot out yet would pretty much be reset if you use the absorption again without waiting for all the bullets to be released. It has been a while since I last played Shikigami no Shiro II.

Sorry if this explanation goes a bit too off topic here.

Yeah, I suppose the off topic is my fault, kinda
That basically explains it though.
A) You can't have reflect always on, still, because it takes a few seconds between uses
and B) Not easy to score with the character
Makes sense to me. Thanks :)

Neat game, some of the weapons are fun to use. Hopefully the developers make more shooters in the future

Actually I forgot I also added some annotation commentary to some of my old videos:

Strikers 1999 / 1945 III 2-ALL Clear 2.7 Million
Ketsui Ura 2-ALL Clear 390 Million
Plasmo wrote:This is interesting. Never heard about this one before. Have you save stated your way through to test this?
Actually I only heard that there was a huge bonus for doing something like this a long time ago.
I checked for myself with savestates just now and found out that the bonus is actually 100M, not 500M.
The bonus might be just for beating the game with a maximum bomb bonus going and not actually NMNB but I dunno.

I was thinking of Guwange where there's also a similar giant bonus and stuff. The clear bonus gets quadrupled if you never got hit.

Again, nice commentaries Jaimers!

Strikers 99:
Jaimers wrote:It balances out a bit in that you get a ton of bombs but you don't want to use these for the 100k bonus.
You were probably thinking of Gunbird 2. Surplus bombs in Strikers 99 only give you a 10k bonus each.

I never knew of red and white labels. If you don't mind me asking here or in PM, how much did the red board go for, how did you get it and when? Its not ported either, right?

Also, very awesome run, reminded me of ESPGauludaII because it seemed like there are times where you're doing the double slowdown from that game, over and over.

There are not separate red and white boards. They are modes and both are available on the Limited Version PCB.

Thanks! I'm glad I could be of service 8) I hope you do get back to it, and even post your scores :) Plenty of room for even just stage 1-4 scores on the current table

You may also find these videos (from a while back) useful

Stage 4 boss strategy Which I posted in the strategy forum, a while back, but didn't upload to a streaming site
and
stage 1 +777 chain Which is from a month or two ago, and I never uploaded til now.

Very cool, I'll have to check out these vids as I'm very, very rusty. Couldn't even completely chain stage 1 like I used to!

I have 1CC'd the DC version years ago, and my best score is a 1.17 trillion (which sadly was not even an ALL). I'll have to post my old score in that thread.

1.17 Trillion is pretty good, especially for something that isn't an ALL. That's all I got with my ALL, I think. If you could get back to that level, and clear the game, you'd probably be higher than me.

1st time I seen 2nd loop clear of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODliPnMn4M0
Looks hard to get a high scoring run with only 200k bonus medals. Suicide bullets don't bad as Strikers 1945. Bullet hell still fast as ever 2nd loop.

Gunbird is a million times easier than Strikers 1945. You would probably have an easy time learning the loop.

True. But since I learned to trigger the Gunbird train 2nd loop on Strikers 1945, I may as well try and get my head around breaking the new high score record run from Arcadia magazine. Assuming the player was using manual shot button and not using a turbo-switch shot button.
Pity DEL didn't say when he was visting London again and find out if he got his old Supergun fixed. HeartOfGaming does have a Strikers 1945 pcb but haven't found the time to stop by and have it set-up.

One more! I figured out how to get sound + video captured, so here is rRootage stage 6R. This time it's slightly over 4:00 min. sound / video are pretty noticeably out of sync, though >_< and 25FPS = some choppy fast bullets parts. Not a great run, but could have been a lot worse.

Accumulate better high score for certain mid level and end level bosses using turbo switch or manual.

You got me curious there. What exactly do you mean?

If I remember correctly there are no tick points in Strikers. How and where could autofire help to get a higher score?
