It would be awesome to have a dip setting for Garegga that removes the logo from the attract mode. On one of my cabinets, I have a very noticeable BATTLE GAREGGA screen burn, and apparently, this is one of the more common games to do that as the logo is visible 80% or more of the time during GAME OVER.

You know, that makes me think of something more general --emphatic wrote:It would be awesome to have a dip setting for Garegga that removes the logo from the attract mode. Some games (like Guwange), will stop the attract mode when you credit up, and switch to a semi-static (or completely static) screen, waiting for you to press start. Another annoyance is that some games (Guwange I'm looking at you again), when set for Free Play, never go into attract mode and just sit at this "Press Start" screen forever.
I don't have a cab myself, but for those that do I bet this is a huge pain in the ass. It would be cool to see if there was a way to 'fix' this on some games.

Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
I'm dumb. Please help!
I'm trying to compile the Thunder Dragon hack to be sent off to hobbyroms.com to be burned for me and I just wanted to make sure I'm doing it correctly
(using OSX) Dropping the folder over the .app gives me '91070_68k.7.bak' and '91070_68k.8.bak'
Do I leave the original '91070_68k.7' and '91070_68k.8' in the folder? or do I delete the originals and rename the .bak files?
Do I leave all the other files ('91070.1through6', '91070.9&10') in the folder?
Is there someone else I'm missing?
Seeing as I can not get it to run in MAME and seeing as the .bak files are not "Unix Executable File" even after I rename them makes me believe there must be

Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
The .bak files are backups of the original ROM images that you had the program change.
Look on the page for the game for which files are the ROM images that you need burned.
You also have to remove the .bak files for it to work in MAME.

Do people who own cabs just let them run all the time? If not, no problem with shit burning in, no?shmuppyLove wrote:Some games (like Guwange), will stop the attract mode when you credit up, and switch to a semi-static (or completely static) screen, waiting for you to press start. Adding my thanks and admiration toward the work you've put in on these convenience and practice mode versions.
I've been playing an awful lot of Mahou Daisakusen lately and all the while was thinking how great a trap15 arrange version would be. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think I have that project backed up still. I might just release a patch with what I have working on PCB (mahous, start for abc, quick reset), but I'd like to get it working perfect.

Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
Trap can you make a hack for DDP DOJ owners so we can burn an EEPROM that would let us start DOJ in the second loop on our PCBs? Would be swell of you >_>
Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
Nope. Too much effort, too little caring about DOJ. Sorry.

Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
Old thread I know but was there ever an update on the Garegga fix ? I never got to download when it was there.
Re: Practice Mode/Convenience Hacks by trap15
