If you want to try something really crazy play on Expert and set the difficulty to Very Hard, I saw a TAS of that where he overflowed on stage 3
Link?
I didn't know you could TAS SDoJ, I'm interested in seeing it.

I think it was somewhere on nicovideo, you can semi-TAS on the port by playing back a replay and taking control of the replay by pressing a certain button(this was even back in the ps2 doj port)

doing that repeatedly you can use it like savestates

Yes - Ibara, Pink Sweets, and Muchi Muchi Pork all have debug menu options built into the standard PCB build if you flip the debug dip swtich to on. And as far as I know, Pink Sweets was the only one of those three that could also have hitbox highlighting turned on individually for player, bullets, enemies, and items.

Very nice to know a non-Yagawa game also has these same debug options, although kind-of sucks it is a special PCB build. I wonder what are the chances this is built into every PCB but needs to be activated via a code.

Tool-Assisted Speedrun.

+1 for getting this dumped and recorded. Put the dump in a few private areas until the appropriate time passes though: Haze lost the Daifukkatsu Black Label dump someone submitted thanks to a hard drive fault IIRC.

So on a normal SDOJ PCB, there's no way to access some of the cool stuff on S.L's SDOJ PCB?

So Cave sells their very last SDOJ PCB kit to fellow shmupper S.L and it turns out to a very special one. I wonder just how many developer enabled SDOJ PCBs were made -- a handful to say at the least? Surely, it's gotta be worth more than the asking MSRP of $2,400 USD on the secondary arcade PCB collector's market, right?

Yeah, it'd still be nice to get an SDOJ kit one of these days.

Makes me wonder why Cave hasn't released an official SDOJ superplay DVD or Blu-Ray set yet.

Checked out the above posted SDOJ Inbachi play -- goes up to 4K ultra high-def resolution on the Youtube settings menu. Wow...pure eye candy to behold!

Perhaps I misunderstand, but I think we are worried undumped games won't be preserved in the case of a fire or what have you. Wasn't there a blue label dodonpachi or something too that is lost forever?

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22481538 here's a video of the "weird chain value display" bug I think? Not sure what it does but it also seems to show some weird characters.

can't find the very hard TAS anymore though sadly

SL, tell us the code that you did by accident when you got the board.

trap15 would rather see all unique and rare games lost forever because he's a moralfag and sense doesn't mean anything in his mindset.

Anyway as long as -S.L- documents the shit out of this debug mode and what it reveals about SDOJ, the rom itself has not much interest since it's basically the same game.

I did not do any code. It was just there...

Like I said the first time I encounter some "bugs" (which in fact now are no bugs at all), is when I pressed all buttons togheter in order to skip a lot faster the bonus items counting at the end of the stage. We all do that right ? we all press buttons to skip as fast as possible to go to the next stage.

But once I pressed at the very first second of one stage and I skipped it right away, I was like  WTF ?? Took me a few times and try to realized the real combination (yes it's pretty rare we press the start button as well, especially on my cab, it's on the left of the joystick)

One thing I also noticed in my PCB, is the bonus counting at the end of stages is VERY quick, no count down at all. On the 360 version (and maybe on a regular PCB), the points are counted slowly like any other game in this world, unless you press buttons to skip it. If that makes any sense.

And as my 4th button was only connected to my cab recently (DDP DFK plays...), then I found out only those crazy menus and hyper refills just recently.

Trap's response was to a post about DFK Black Label which was commercially released and isn't hard to get your hands on, funds permitting.

It would obviously be great if SL's unique version were dumped, but people's interest in this is more because it's a unique look at dev tools than so they can play it. Great for a TCRF article, not something we're excited to play it in MAME 2.x

Yes Bananamatic, this is the weird characters i encounter before I could trigger the bug, but this guy has the bug way before my (unique) try. I had it just before the last big rush.

Maybe try to understand my point of view before you spew strawmans and stuff words in my mouth, dipshit. Didn't you just see me requesting the SDOJ debug PCB get dumped for preservation? I see no reason to share the dumps whilst CAVE can/does still make money off of a game. There's a reason MAME had a policy for keeping emulation unreleased until games were past a certain age. Too bad they stopped caring.

That was mostly at Xyga, wasn't meaning to seem hostile to you; I'm glad you have the decency to properly respond and inquire without putting words in my mouth. But yes, I am worried and concerned about games that may be lost to history; DFKBL is not at all one of those games. Dodonpachi Campaign is definitely one of those, and is one that I don't see being dumped for a very very long time.

Yes I've missed that as well, mea culpa. I have to admit my post was mostly an epidermic reaction, not directly related to this but rather to that pic you posted, Mr. I Pop Up And Shout "You're a Pirate!"
I was like 'oh my it's been a long time since trap15 hasn't been here accusing people, it's so quiet!', so when I saw another of your annoying "Pirate!" posts, I just couldn't resist the urge to express my hostility towards you when you act like this.
I know your point even if you never clearly state it. It could be perfectly good and just if your position wasn't always so extreme and if you were not thinking you can always pop up and judge anyone.
Do you understand why some people react aggressively to your interventions ? It's because of your attitude. You're a jerk who constantly boast his knowledge on emulation, teases with awesome stuff, then immediately shits in the face of the first poor guy who naturally would like to experience it. Because for you he naturally is a "Pirate!", supporting piracy and unquestionably destroying the industry.
You could just quietly state the rules and tell them 'hey it's forbidden to ask for roms here, mods will get you', but no, you have to be you.
What you fail to see is that by your broken logic you're also a pirate, if you don't get what's wrong, go see a shrink. Dipshit.
