Guys this is my first time and i don't know what i'm doing. I have a 21inch tv which side do i flip it on? Do i flip to the left, right, or do flip the TV completely so that the bottom of the TV is facing up and the Top of the TV is facing the ground. This TV is on its last life, so i want to try to see TATE mode at my house. Please Help, thanks
I only play shmups so i wanted to try it
I went and second checked it is a 32" Toshiba with rounded edge speakers. Is there anyway to flip it without too much force on the speakers, do i have to create a holding block. Thanks for any advice

Once again, the direction of the rotation will depend on the game (there's no universal answer for all games). As you can see from the posts above, you'll need to find out which way to rotate your TV from the games you own.

just checked on that - and you are correct.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

Seems too big to risk it, unless you really don't care about it. I'd recommend getting some RGB cables and an amiga monitor - if you're tating, you're going for graphical improvements after all. RGB beats composite by a mile.

All the games are pre jamma thats why.
For what reason Jamma games went the other way I don't know.
For shmups, the bottom should be the left side of the screen with the right side being the top. I would say more than 90% of TATE related software works this way around.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Wouldn't the obvious solution be to fire up the game, switch to TATE mode, and take a long careful look at the screen to see which way you'll need to flip it?

Some games have options to tate both ways, others have option to only tate one way. The risk of damaging your TV increases if you have to keep tating it a different way for different games. Might as well get it right for 90% of the games the first time.
Thanks guys it looks like i have to flip it one the left side as the majority of the votes. Anyway i will try to get a picture of my TV, i have only one problem the sides are not flat, it is kind of a rounded edge where the speakers are located, i think i have to put some foundation for it since its heavy. I will try to get a pic asap, thanks for all the help guys.
Actually, from what my friend told me about turning TV's sideways; the worst thing that can happen to it, is that it will get "polarized." I wasn't curious enough to inquire as to exactly what that means or what exactly causes it, but apparently it is a hazard.

Sometimes all the shit inside shakes loose. That's the worst thing that can happen.
I have a 32" tube TV in TATE with no problems, but its cabinet is a rectangular wooden box. If you could get a giant block of that foam used for flower arrangements...
