Do you have more information how you fixed it? Or any idea what caused it in the first place?

no worries, bug me up when needed
actually emu_kidid also made CleanRIP: http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewto ... =37&t=1432

Image

Code: Select all

(taken from http://code.google.com/p/cleanrip/)

Create 1:1 backups of your GC/Wii discs for archival purposes without any requirements for custom IOS (cIOS).

Whatsnew in 2.0.0:
* GameCube version integrated into one codebase
* GX GUI
* Fix disc dumping on Wii U (Wii discs only of course)
* Fix ETA calculation on non GC discs
* Fix fatUnmount
* Stop larger than 4GB chunks on FAT FS
* Fix potential issue when read error occurs

Features:
* FAT32 / NTFS file system support
* USB 2.0 support
* Front SD Support
* Gamecube / Wii / Wii Dual layer disc dumping
* BCA ripping to disk
* File Splitting (1,2,3GB (or Maximum file size - only on NTFS))
* MD5/SHA-1/CRC32 sums saved to disk
* Redump.org in-program verification for known rips (hosted on gc-forever.com)
so you can at least rip your discs with it and a cheap "wiikey SD adapter" (a memory card to SD adapter).
I suppose when wkf writing gets unlocked you'll be able to rip directly to the wkf SD

also remember, there is NO audio streaming support on the wkf/wasp chips, that's a hardware limitation (it's not there!) and not a SWISS one... so audio streaming titles will run but without affected audio parts. Actually no solution offers audio streaming, not even the more expensive WODE device.

I'm not a Gamecube fan. I have maybe a dozen games which I can play from disc just fine. I really just think that putting that GBplayer disc image onto an SD disc is the only good use I have for that tool. (And thanks for the help!)

Thanks darcagn and Fudoh.
So my final set is almost done.

Dreamcast > Hanzo > Kenzei > mini
Play all resolution with the Hanzo switch (switching even if dreamcast is powered on after booting if necessary)

Gamecube > (Digital AV Out to D-Terminal modded cable) > extron/umsa/kenzei to merge HV to S > mini
Play all resolution games

PS2 15khz > RGB cable > mini
PS2 all other frequency > sync strike > extron for RGsB to RGBS > mini

Is this correct and the best possible?

BuckoA51 wrote:When I use my Extron interface (203rxi) to convert RGsB to RGB and feed it into the mini, the picture has a very slight wobble to it, in areas such as around text or particularly when playing FMV intros.
Do you make your test with another extron, like 190 series?

I know you don't have this issue with blackbox but videogameperfection talk about a band discoloring with it (source), do you see the same?

Can somebody please make some comparison shots between this setup and an usual component > mini setup? I'd really want to know if it's really worth it to spend more money on additional adapters and cables such as the ones mentioned.

Ah right. I forgot that you could use them as controllers for the GBPlayer. Thanks for reminding me! The only downside is that the link cable doesn't power the GBA.
You could buy a cheap GBA for 10 $ and desolder the display power cable, couldn't you? This would at least save you a lot of battery life right?

I don't have another one to test. Thomago says he doesn't see it on his.

Austin532 also sees the band on his setup, so we can assume that's common. It's really not that bad though. I'd take it over the picture wobble any day, but as you've seen some claim that their Extron interfaces don't do the whole wobbling thing.

There is no AC adapter, speaking of an original GBA model. This would yet just lead to another cable during gameplay, let alone tremendous power consumption :mrgreen:

I meant "not included out of the box", sorry.

But back to topic. I find this whole component-to-VGA-to-RGB thing very confusing. How is it even possible to get 480p over RGB scart? I thought it only supported resolutions up to 480i/576i (I know it's analog, but nevertheless).

Thanks BuckoA51, I'll go for Extron 190.
Thomago says he doesn't see it on his.
1/ Do you know wich one exactly he is using?

I made many test on ps2 > RGB scart > mini.
Every like 10~15 seconds, my screen flicker one time during 1/10 second and goes back to normal.
I tested it on Dodonpachi DOJ 240P and Tobal 2.
2/ Tobal 2 drive crazy the mini, do you think sync strike+extron will fix this?

For DDP DOJ, using this sync stripper it's flawless.
3/ Is this sync stripper the same as sync strike?

Final built for now:

On a PS2 with RGB you certainly don't need a stripper on the Mini. You should be able to fix this by adjusting the sync level just a little bit.

has anyone bought recently the Amazon PSU that is compatible with the mini and is linked at the wiki ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005 ... UTF8&psc=1

today I received mine, it was DOA and a different model delivering 3Amps:

Has anyone received an adapter like that and does it work OK without sending noise to the mini? I have initiated the return process but I would like some feedback if possible in order to ask for a replacement (like the one pictured above) or demand they send the adapter they are selling in their page - which is a different model .
TIA for any info! :D

^ it's not a bad thing really, 3a is nice... If you leave the unit in it's blue standby screen (meaning no active input) and you turn the volume of your tv way up, do you hear any buzzing noises? If it's ok then there is no need to worry 8)

The Mini's audio section isn't that great. Don't you get ANY buzz at all added to the audio with your 3rd party PSU ?

^ I am getting buzzing with cheap PSUs: I can only describe it as an come-and-going buzzing , classic interference that does that indefinitely.
I am not talking about the normal constant white-noise-like parasite that you get when you get volume to high levels, I am talking about electrical noise caused by poor psu design (sorry can't think of any words to describe this better in English atm)
I get less of this with a multi-psu that was designed for laptops - still it exists and bothers me.
I am not getting this with the original PSU when used with one of those 240->110v stepdown regulators. But the thing is so bulky and outputs close to 117v that I don't want to use it anymore, so I got that amazon adapter that turned out to be different and DOA.

Need some help guys as I'm now stumped..

Iv built a new RGB CABLE for my atari jaguar... Now for what ever reason, it's not good... Iv followed what iv done and been advised from this site to try, yet iv got a flicking double colour image, like the tv colour as gone out off sync...

Example......
Say you have the red word jaguar on screen, it would flicker bad with the word jaguar in blue off set from the red word...it's like there out of sync or something ?

Only way to stop it is to connect directly to pin 16 on the scart block, problem is then the xrgb mini doesn't see the scart as rgb but sound is playing...

Have I done something wrong, I'd thought I copied what I did with my working one but clearly not...

Any advice was be great guys...

I'm not sure I understand everything you're saying.

Pin 16 (EU SCART) is the RGB switch pin and has no use on the XRGB. Only GND, Sync, R, G, B and Audio are necessary. Pin 16 would only make a difference when connected directly to a TV, where the TV most likely would assume composite video if it doesn't get a voltage on pin 16.

Guys, I'm using a PS2 at 480i. Is it better to use a component cable with adapter or a JP-21 cable?

Thanks,

What adapter are you using? Female Component to Male D-Terminal?

If you just plan on only using a RGB signal with the PS2 then a JP-21 cable is fine. Just make sure your are using a JP-21 pin to 8 pin adapter. If you plan on using RGB for other systems as well then I recommend using Scart as Scart switches are easier to find.

That's for sega machines I'm using the atari jaguar... But are you saying I can totally disconnect pins 8 & 16 as they are only used for tvs ? What PIN number is RGB GROUND ? 17 ?

Even more confused now I thought 11a on the jag had to be connected to pin 8 which us joined to pin 16 via 330ohm resistor ?

Wire it up exactly like this:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/ ... htm#jaguar
If it doesn't work then something is wrong other than your jaguar cable. possibly there is something wrong with your console as it seems like you've tried quite a few cables. Also make sure your connector on the jaguar side is correctly lining up with the pins on the console.

From RetroRGBs site:-

Atari Jaguar - The best way to get rgb output from a Jaguar is by making a custom cable using a floppy cable port. Just wire RGB to pins 4B, 7A, 5A (respectively), wire RGB ground to pin 10B and csync to pin 5B. Also, don't share video ground with audio: Make sure to wire audio ground to pin 2A. As an FYI: I can confirm that you do not need a sync stripper with the Jaguar (as stated on the gamesx page). Pin 5B works fine.

Yeah iv add a few, iv got a good working one had to mod because it wouldn't work, so my jags fine..

What I don't under stand us iv wired a rgb the same both of those ways listed and I get a flickering image on both ?...even copying the one I made doesn't work either ? Am I missing something, what casing the flicking colours goin out of sync ? Is my 330ohms resistor faulty !

You don't need any resistors. As Konsolkongen explained, Only GND, Sync, R, G, B and Audio are necessary when using the mini.
