It amazes me how many Raiden rip-offs I've come across on the iTunes app store and Google Play Store. This game's title is "Raiden 3D", that is clearly the Japanese kanji for Raiden. When I googled "雷电", this came up, just as I expected. https://www.google.com/search?q=%E9%9B% ... hannel=rcs
It's so hilarious to see these half-assed rip-offs that bastardize the Raiden name and even use official stolen artwork and such in the art. Most of these are being made by some unknown Korean or Chinese developers.
I take back what I said in my harsh tone about this game. I was being too hard on it without even giving it a try. I just downloaded it today and it runs flawlessly on my iPod touch 5th generation. It's a great game with good graphics and decent sound, although most of it was taken directly from Raiden itself. The boss music is epic, though. Also, in the beginning of the 2nd stage, are those really X-47B Pegasus drones and the unmanned fighters from the anime Yukikaze that are attacking you? Random choice of aircraft if you ask me, but hey, it works, and it's interesting. The only downside is that it needs an English translation.
X-Type is a simple little html 5 shooter available for free on the web and on android and ios.
The game is really pretty simple, one stick moves, the other shoots. Danmaku activated as you dodge radial blooms of gun fire some shoot able and other only dodge able. Minor amounts of strategy occur as you can choose to aim for red spots that fire dodgable radial fire or orange molecular looking rocks. The game is also coming to the Wii U in a modified version.mthe version here is nice and completely free as in free as free not even ads or in-app purchases. You can play it months web too if you search for x-type impact js.
Didn't think this deserved a new thread, so here seems suitable.
Do people think this new tech from Fuffr could be great for iOS and other smartphone/mobile shmups, in terms of getting rid of the old 'fingers in the way of the action' problem many touch control shmups suffer? If it works in reality as well as it does in that video, I think it could be great. Maybe.
If you can't get at the video right now, in short Fuffr lets you place your smartphone on a surface like a tabletop, and use the area around your phone (so the tabletop itself) as a 'touchscreen'. Pretty smart.
I noticed there's a port of Tengai/Sengoku Blade on iOS. I'm not sure if it is official since the credits to Psyiko and X-Nauts are a bit odd. It's also freeium with having to pay to unlock characters and use continues. Miko is also censored to show less cleavage. ugh.
Is Reflector ( http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/ ) the best way to record footage off of an iPad? I want to make some iOS shmup videos for youtube and this is the best option I've seen so far.
I tried it before and the frame rate was absolute garbage in Reflector. The only way to get a good frame rate is with cables. The old composite style kind of sucks because it lowers the resolution to 640x480 so the video looks like it's from a totally different system. To do it in high quality and high frame rate I think the only option is the newer "digital AV" cords (or maybe VGA, but not composite). Additionally you might have to crack your device and run the Cydia app Display Out.
All I had was composite cables when I did my Donpaccin videos so you can see how they lower the image quality vs. what you see on your iWhatever.

From awhile back I read that they were going in the social gaming direction. Sucks I know. Their Shmups are some of the very best on iOS. All we can do is wait and see I guess.
It's worth it. No IAPs. No bullshit. The only drawback is it doesn't support screen rotation and it's not optimized for the iPhone 5 on up. Great game nonetheless.
Been out for a little while now. Didn't see a thread or any posts on this great game. Vertex Blaster uses the twin stick formula. I use the iCade to play this. Anyone a fan of Vertex Blaster?
I wanted to give away a few promo codes for Galactic Nemesis.
My apologies for linking outside this thread, but if you want to learn more about what people think of this game, check out the touchArcade forum link below. Galactic Nemesis is my tribute to the old school arcade shooters for iOS. So far people are loving it. Would love to hear the thoughts of folks here.

It's a strange port of Raiden 3D for sure but it has been running great on my 5S and is very enjoyable, seems to be programmed well.
Holy shit! I just downloaded this and took it for a spin, and wow it's an excellent port and the touch controls are perfect! No input lag at all! And best of all there are new features, like upgrading the planes to start with more charge shot, or increasing damage. You can even use the wingman feature to have an AI controlled plane fight at your side, which trails you slowly and shoots independently, but can't use bombs. I think he's invincible though. And here's the best part! It supports from 2-4 players at the same time through Game Center! 4 players! Too bad multiplayer is dead so I'd like to get a list of people on here who have Game Center and want to play sometime. I'll update on strikers 1945 2 once I download that too
Is it just me or does that game directly rip the medal and bomb fragment sprites and the 1-up sign that appears next to the player when respawning from Armed Police Batrider, and some of the bullet sprites from Dodonpachi?
NTSC-J:You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too. 1CCs | Twitch | YouTube

I have both games downloaded on my iPhone and iPad. I'd love to get something going with Strikers 3. I love them. My gamecenter ID is ...Knockworstface.

and the stage intro graphics from Dimahoo! hahaha. obviously cheap and bootleggy but i always kind of like seeing graphics mashed up like this.
