Chromehounds

Post by jp »

Any of you guys pick up Chromehounds?

So far... I'm liking it. The single player is alright, but the online multiplayer looks like it'll kick ass. I haven't been able to delve too deep into as of yet due to work and such... but this weekend I'm going to check it out.

The graphics are gorgeous. My roomate flipped out at them. He was like "That almost looks like real life..." Pretty cool.

Gameplay is slow... yes, but the mech customization is nuts. I can definitely see myself tweaking my HOUND for a few months!

So yes, if you have a 360, I'd recommend Chromehounds. Well, if you also have XBLive Gold, THEN I'd recommend it. Otherwise... probably not.

Also, if anybody is looking for a clan:

You mean gorgeous aside from:

1) Incredibly sparse landscapes, that look like fractal hills with a few trees glued on
2) Some lovely frame dropping when things get busy, despite the above
3) Some lovely tearing, despite the above
4) Having to turn the brightness up 5 notches if you use a CRT

Actually #4 is a common problem with 360 games, they only seem to test them on panels in high def now. Something with more contrast makes everything look too dark. Luckily many games have a brightness control, Microsoft should have mandated this I think.

On the upside, the Frogger port that hit marketplace is great ;-)

Gamespot said much the game thing.

On that off-topic note, the playable demo for Zegapain XOR is out on marketplace japan. :!:

Screenshots make it look like Zone of the Enders, and the color scheme reminds a bit of Senko No Ronde

get ArmoredCore For Answer, way more technical and complex, lots more variety in ppls mech, so ull see alot of originality that looks more anime'ish than chromehounds as well. it basically looks and plays better

I like the gritty reality of Chromehounds, no flying mechs, no lasers etc. Ok, so a mech game is never going to be a real world type sim. but i feel like Chromehounds is about as close as you can get and still have a fun game.

looking at the AC:FA site, it looks like the AC development included at least part of the team from Chromehounds (From Software) and in some ways it looks like an anime Chromehounds, how interesting.

could be worth a look

after i get Fallout 3 that is.

BTW the thing i love about CH is the online war, is there anything similar with AC:FA?

Metal Wolf Chaos is above all.

But seriously, nothing has touched ZoE2 and nothing ever will.

Mechs without lazers (at least not the real-life military equivalent) strikes me as pretty lol. Then again, I've always been surprised that mechs could have some kind of battlefield use outside of s&r or uparmored & luggage enhanced individual soldiers...

Votoms are such hideous mechs you just have to like them.

There were three good side-view SNES games with similar gameplay: Assault Suits Valken, Metal Warriors, and Front Mission: Gun Hazard.

More like roller blading :) it's really a sweet game. pure blasting fun and not overwhelmed with unrealistic physics.
A lot of interesting missions and you can get out of your mecha to pick another one.
Not played steel battalion but it seems too much on the simulation side of thing. Not my cup of coffee. For those who like it, it seems to be the flight simulator of the mecha games. :)

Votoms mech are made to be functional, like tanks, not bishonen mecha ala G Gundam :D
They are stylish in a gritty way.

In the same vein there's leynos 1 on megadrive (target earth on genesis in a censored version) and leynos 2 on saturn.
