Will Raiden 3 work on my PC?

Post by malcolm »

Are PC import games region protected? I've never even thought about it until this evening when I sent away for Raiden 3. Am I to assume that this will install and play just as any old pc game would? Of course it's probably in Japanese so it will be trial and error with the install. Please forgive me if the answer is obvious but I've always been a console guy.
Thanks.

Raiden III runs great on my PC (P4 3.0, 1gb ddr ram, x800gt), looks really good too :D Most of the menus are in English (at least in my copy), and the few things that aren't are pretty easy to figure out

Some games require you to switch your OS to Japanese to get them to install properly, you need to go into control panel and find regional settings. You can also try installing applocale. Once it's installed when you right click on an exe you can select > Locale Japanese.

I do know some people have trouble getting the game to run. Unfortunately there doesn't' appear to be a playable demo on the official site.

2GHz with an entry level DX9 video card is hardly "bitchin" any more.

The PC world moves a bit faster than the console world. :)

Wow, and I'm still running on 850 MHz with 300-some odd Megabytes of RAM and a video card that I got for free.

As long as it runs MAME, ZSNES, Gens, MagicEngine, I'm fine with it, even though I hardly use those anymore since I can play on actual hardware.

My PC is a Sempron 2200+ (1.5 ghz), 256 mb of ram and a GeForce Fx 5200 (128mb). I don't have any japanese font or anything installed on my computer.

And it works fine on my computer. The menus are in english and everything is very easy to figure out indeed. There's no frame skipping or anything like that either.

Now if I remember correctly, the game does have some problem running in a certain type of videocard, but I can't remember which one...
