Trizeal coming to dreamcast (not very long now :D))

Post by Super Laydock »

Dreamcast-scene (the site behind the succesful "Border Down port for DC"-petitition) mentions that Trizeal will becoming to the Dreamcast in a few months.
Release date would be April 7 of this year.

I can't find confirmation of this news on triangleservice's website though, so I am still a bit reserved till I see it on the official site.

Smashing, more quality Dreamcast shmuppery. Wasn't too sure we'd see *any* DC games in 2005, much less another shmup. Quality.

Here's to another good year for the DC, Sega's wonder-machine that refuses to lay down and die quietly.....

IIRC, most people who played it weren't terribly impressed with it...I haven't played it myself, though, so I'm only going off what I remember...

*checks screenshots*

Well, for these shots, it definitely looks nice... and Dreamcast fans can't complain too much about it, nowadays pretty much nothing comes to this system.

I believe those who tried it in the Japanese arcades billed it as a "poor-man's Raiden".

Still, as soon as I see pre-orders open up on-line for it, I'll snag it. I'm trying to keep my shmup collection for the DC complete.

You know, I'd be more anxious if I actually enjoyed Chaos Field or Psyvariar 2 more...not to really crap on either of those games but rather I think I'm more apt to drop $60 on a game on the DC just because it is on the DC even if it isn't really all that great.

I like XII Stag and am looking forward to seeing what new ideas Triangle Service have for this one. Now that the port is announced, it's more interest for me than before.

I played Trizeal a few times and tried to get myself to like it... but not much luck. It's okay. Not really bad, but not great. I'm glad it's coming out anyway though. If it's at a bargain price like Chaos Field was I'll probably pick it up "just because."

meh. another mediocre game that will sell simply because it's on dc. Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?

True, Neon...

But I'll take a mediocre shmup on the DC over an overhyped mainstream mega-title any day.

Maybe it's just me.

Well, I LOVE Triangle Service's other shmup, XII Stag, so I would definately get this one.

This definitely looks like the kind of game I'll wait for impressions after it's released. I've gotten so cheap lately, 60 bucks seems like a lot for a completely blind purchase, not only have I not played it but I have almost no information on it. It was Psyvariar 2, I felt like I got burned there, it's turned me off to automatically buying every new shmup import sight unseen.

I'm still not sure if I'll get Chaos Field Extend Edition when it comes out in a few weeks.

I must admit, however, those screenshots do look pretty nice. Is there a video anywhere? Seeing it in action would help.

Trizeal? I'll take it. 8) I do like XII Stag even if there are others that do come out ahead of it.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

It may look kinda bland but any DC shmup port these days gets the benefit of the doubt. But GRev's Senko No Ronde (sp?) would be more exciting.

Uhm, one good thing about losing the old forum is that some lame flamewars did disappear with it (if you know what i mean, i.e burying consoles even if they're objects and thus can't die, since they're not alive in the first place, but do you bury objects?Ok, i'll stop :? ).

At any case: Mediocre or not (i don't know!), i would say that everyone is trying to milk off the "omg last shmup for DC"...in fact, Kron on Click's site has said that G.Rev (he directly asked them) will port Senkou (if successful, i suppose...?).This is probably a problem (to quote Neon), but i can easily live with that

I have a feeling most people don't like it is because it's too old-school. No thousands of bullet at screen, no complex scoring systems to exploit. Basically, everything but the graphics are straight from the 90's.

Why does everyone get excited about Raiden III, then? Because it's Raiden. Name recognition goes a long way.

XII Stag got a PS2 port (though it probably bombed sales-wise), here's hoping Trizeal gets one too.

There's no stick-wiggling in Trizeal, as far as I know. The image on the site Stormwatch posted refers to XII Stag, you can see the name clearly.

I really don't see how XII Stag was that bad. I really liked the fact that it had the old style imagery of military shooters. And, I thought the stick wiggling was okay, but it was not even necessary to play the game. You could play the game, if you chose to, as a basic shooter in the vain of Ghost Pilot or the the original Raiden games.

Announcement was made at
http://www.gamekult.com/tout/actus/arti ... 38828.html
and
http://www.gamefront.de/
I don't know where they could get the info.
I'd like to get some videos to know more about the game and if it's enough good to buy. Luckily, I'm from Europe, so the price will be interesting in euro :P

They're pretty reliable, as they're supposed to be based on triggerzone.de, which has a couple of newsers living in Japan (Raiden surely knows better on this, since he's one of our fellow german shmuppers  ).

Sweet, I'm there. Hope the port has a 2P mode, oldschool/16-bit style is the greatest for that.

I love my DC but ever since I bought Psyvarier 2, I'm a bit more wary when it comes to buying crap for my DC. That's right I said crap. Just because it is a shmup and it is released on DC does not mean it is automatically good. I used to think the same thing about genesis shmups before it got inundated with crap. This game truly does look like it is following the crap route. Let it die in peace guys, just let your DC go without digging it up and force feeding it feces in some vain attempt to revive it.

I never said any of this if somehow this game turns out to be better than Ikaruga....

See, you dispelled your theory about old school games putting people off. The Raiden name means quality. Triangle Service means XII Stag. :x

I'll pass.

No, not really. You just proved that my theory of name recognition was absolutely correct. :D

And like you might've noticed, some people actually like XII Stag.
