You can buy Japanese PSP UMD games at Fry's in USA...

If you live in the USA, at your local Fry's Electronics Superstore, you can buy Japanese PSP games...but be warned, they're priced at $54.99-$64.99 and is considered a little bit more priced over the USA PSP game UMDs usual going rate of $29.99 to $39.99.

They both do the same thing - put the entire dpad above the level of the psp, so that you can find any point you want more easily. As long as it doesn't fall off or anything, I can't see how it could not work.
