In my everlasting search for hidden gems I present:

Anybody know what this game is like?
What are the improvements from Side by side Special which came out in 97?
This 2000 version came out in 2000. I can find very little info on it.
Make me curious.
Now I want to have it.
EDIT:
I just checke the differences in the back cover and the only difference I can discover is that the 2000 version has dual shock compatability.
Can they do that? release a game with a different name and only change compatability? Apparantly so. Perhaps they made some slight changes in game to make the game run smoother, then again, wouldn't they've changed the artwork around, I mean they had about 2 years.
I liek racers that do not go to deep, like adjusting parts and buying different parts and stuff. I like a simple racing upgrade system.
I hate the games where you have to make desicions and you'll never know if it was the right one. buy tires or engine, etc. It should just be a sequential upgrade system without choices, or maybe very little choices, because when you made the choice and you're driving skitting around in a corner about to hit that wall thinking: maybe, I should've gone for tires.
Don't you hate that?

Side by Side Special is the prequel to the Battle Gear racing series, with licensed cars like Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi etc. I have only the original run of Side by Side Special (not the 2000 one) so I couldn't say what changes were made.
SBS Special features all the tracks from Taito's Side by Side 1 & 2 arcade versions. There are also some original tracks in it you can unlock.
I'd say this one is a definite hidden gem- somewhat better than Namco's PS versions of Ridge Racer. You don't have to worry about upgrading your car in this game.

Kinect? KIN NOT.

Absolutely. That's why I never could settle with a Gran Turismo game.D wrote:I hate the games where you have to make desicions and you'll never know if it was the right one. buy tires or engine, etc. It should just be a sequential upgrade system without choices, or maybe very little choices, because when you made the choice and you're driving skitting around in a corner about to hit that wall thinking: maybe, I should've gone for tires.

You hit the nail right on the head.Mikey wrote:I agree too. That customisation stuff is not what I consider to be gameplay, and if it's not gameplay then what's it doing in a video game.
It is not gameplay. (Don't you in real life have entire team to fine tune your car) We have to concentrate on driving, on the curves.
