MAME controllers
I just bought a usb controller and am trying to use a PS2 controller to play MAME games, how do I do this? For some reason it's detected it but I can't move the scroll box down to view the whole detected settings.. it's not working..

...and why the hell is this in general chat? WTF? Did the hardware section die?
Nevermind about that not being a complete ass part. I gave up.
Steer clear of the Logitech Dual Action btw.

I'm sorry, I always thought that MAME was actually a program, which was software.Damocles wrote:Not to be a complete ass....but you know there are Mame forums for this kind of stuff.

No, they are overlays to simulate the apature grills on old arcade monitors.Arznei wrote:Because I still want to know if the RGB settings in MAME are reflective of the RGB quality you'd get from a tv. If they are, awesome. If not, oh well.
It has nothing to do with actual hardware RGB signals coming from a video card going to a monitor. Your VGA plug does that already.

Well, I have that same setup and don't get any lag. I'm not sure what I did differently, it just doesn't lag.cigsthecat wrote:Hey elvis-
When I use a usb adaptor to play with a Saturn pad in MAME, I get lots of gross input lag. Yet I remember you raving about your magic lag free setup.
Is there a way to get rid of this lag and still use the adaptor and MAME32?

What brand of USB adaptor are you using?cigsthecat wrote:Hey elvis-

The problem sounds like it's your adaptor hardware, and not MAME. Using native USB controllers, there is no lag. The more hardware you put between you fingers and MAME, the more chances you have of running into problems, especially if that hardware is cheap and nasty.
Open the Windows game controller control panel applet and test your device to see whether it's MAME at fault, or your hardware.
