Net City

Post by antron »

In pictures of the Net City cab it looks really high; compared to the Naomi Universal Cabinet.

Is one a stand-up and the other a sit-down type?

I am a short guy. Is a Net City the wrong cab for me?

There's stand up and sitdown versions of both cabs. My Naomi Uni is an upright version, however, I always play sitting down using bar stools.

They are both "Naomi" (Sega) machines. Net City is the newer version of the Universal. Both have sitdown and standup models.

Is there any real difference between the Naomi Unis and the Net Citys apart from the decals?

I wouldn't call Net City a "Naomi"...just makes for confusion. It is JVS (new JAMMA) Naomi standard wiring though, just the same, and released around the same time.

The difference between Net and Naomi cabs is primarily the monitor: the former is 15/24/31k, the latter 31k only. New Net City is tri-sync as well, but upgrades to 100% flat screen, new graphics (black decals, etc.) and probably some other little details I'm not aware of.

There are kits available (cost around $300) to convert standup version Net/Naomi Universal cab to sitdown.

Net City is the better choice if you're wanting one cab to play everything, but it's going to be more expensive and harder to find (Naomi U. cabs were officially distributed Worldwide, Net/New Net City is Japan and Asia only).

both candy cab city and coinopexpress list the Naomi Universal as 15Khz/24Khz/31Khz

I think the Japanese Naomi cabs have tri sync monitors but the European ones are locked at 31Khz.

They're both mistaken. It's not unusual.

I've seen people cut the metal legs to make a standup cabinet like one of the sit downs. Prefer the sitdowns myself.
