Star Fox with missing tab not working on my modded SNES...

If you look inside a Star Fox cart, it has two metal tabs. One of those is missing, and the game will not run, after being cleaned. Would the absence of that tab cause the game not to work??

definately, that metal tab is a ground;)
if its not grounded, it won't boot ( tested on my machine ^^ )

you should be able to fix this in some way, if you have any type of piece of metal and a little wire and soldering iron.

Well, thanks for the info, but I cleaned the crap out of it some more, and it works perfectly, even without that tab!

Those tabs a ground? Yeah right. I have plenty of Super Nintendo games and many have neither tab and work better than some with both. Your cartridge has probably been played a lot, that's my guess. Even with cleaning, boards from carts just wear out.

Those tabs, IIRC, are actually for SFX and Special chips like those seen in Yoshi's Island, Megaman X3, Stunt Race FX, and Star Fox. They provide special 3d and 2d support for games that need it.

But when you open the cart, those tabs have no connection at all to the rom or SFX chip inside. WTF!?

They are just there to piss people off then and add to cart costs. Nintendo at it's best really, lol.
