Pop'n Land: A sequel to Cocoron which was released on the Famicom. A side-scrolling action game where face, body, and weapons are contstructed from 16 different parts. The music from the game can be found on the CD accompanying Super MegaDrive Fan Vol. 1. The PC-Engine version of Super Cocoron, developed by the same company, was also cancelled (and is a highly sought after, complete beta, which is confirmed to exist).
It's important that this be dumped and released at some point. It's made by the same company that did Little Samson on NES.
Explode Star: An action game with puzzle elements. Was completed and announced in magazines, but never released, although the Genesis version was.
Sounds like my kind of game...what's the name of the Genesis release?

Probably won't. A well-known PC-Engine collector has had one for some time now, and has made it clear it's not getting out. Another might make it's way to YJ, but who knows.

Not sure. Don't think that it said so. Gotta check before I mail that book back out.

A lot actually. I apparently missed it. Will edit it tomorrow.

Now I remember why -- there was an extra page devoted to it and I was going to do that seperate (but apparently didn't).

Mick & Mack isn't the MC Kids released on NES and also called "McDonald Land" on Amiga ?

I was sure I had seen Mega-Drive screenshots of this game in the past, now I know I wasn't dreaming :)

Mick & Mack: An action platformer or the Genesis in which you collected McDonald's logos. The Genesis version was also cancelled. Apparently this had something to do with McDonald's Treasure Island being released.
Mick & Mack - also known as Global Gladiators - was released and, unlike Treasure's game, was a huge success, both critical and commercial. It even got a "game of the year" award, but I don't recall from what mag.
Cotton: An arcade port by Sega which never appeared in any release lists, but was announced in the 1993 April issue of Beep! Megadrive.
Maybe the mentioned game was Panorama Cotton?

So you guys are saying Mick & Mack was released in the US?
Maybe the mentioned game was Panorama Cotton?
Nope, definitely a supposed arcade port of the arcade game.

Definitely not -- hence, it's in that book. On that note, it is a book. I'm sure there's some eratta of some sort. They actually spelled Hammer "Hammar".

I've played it on the Dreamcast (Yu Suzuki Game Works Vol. 1), and must disagree. Power Drift uses the Y Board, same hardware as Galaxy Force II - and remember how bad that game looked on the Genesis? It just didn't have the power for a decent port.

The Amstrad CPC version of Power Drift rocks too.

Of course, eons away from the arcade one in terms of graphics, but it played well.

Also, Global Gladiators is awesome indeed.

Hmm... half-decent, but not spot-on like Out Run on the Genesis.

Power Drift actually has a decent port on the C64. Although the graphics were naturally cut way down, it plays well. I wouldn't have minded seeing Sega hire Chris Butler to work on a SMS 4-Meg version based on the C64 one- only with the graphics kicked up slightly to take advantage of the SMS' capabilities.

A Genesis version would definitely be lesser than the arcade (I'd imagine the sprites having to be all downsized, and the tilt & rotation effects would meet the axe), but Sega could probably have done a "good enough for 16-bit" version with a 16-Meg cart.

Super Hang-On? I thought the developers of the Genesis version worried too much about making it look like the arcade. This one is a choppy clusterfuck. Honestly, SMS Hang-On is actually smoother and faster. The Genesis' Out Run leaves this one in the dust.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

If you think Super Hang-On is choppy, go check Space Harrier 2... >_<

CORRECTION... according to Stephen Clarke-Willson, back then the head honcho at Virgin Games, Global Gladiators did not sell well at all.
