Where can I find a system explanation? I get that I have to get a medal to follow me and absorb other medals, but I completely don't get how to make it follow me.

The medals won't start to "chase" you until you pick up a Slave icon.

Keep building the medal value up by making the one chasing you join with any others on screen, until it reaches its max size & value (huge black/gold medal, ~2M) at which point collect it.

Then you need to get 9 medals to simultaneously appear on screen, at which point they should all explode, and trigger the gold medals. :)

Couple of things I forgot.. doing this from memory, haven't played in a few months.

I *think* (but not 100%) that if you lose all your slaves, the medals will stop chasing you.

Once you trigger the gold medals, they'll be worth 10k each. The next medal to appear will increase in value by 10k (up to 100k) providing there aren't any other medals still on screen when it appears.
If you miss the "last" medal on screen when in gold medal mode, the next will reset to 10k.

Hope all that made sense..

elbarto - 15,361,374 - Blue Javelin - 1-Level 10 [MAME]

Shame it runs super shit on my PC though.. literally stops now and again for a second or two at a time.

Whats the difference between the jap and us versions?
Anyway, I own the european pcb, and I bet it´s identical to the us.

RealBout c.f. - 37,463,724 - Ixion - 1-Phase 1 [PCB]

The sky levels annoy me.

I uploaded a replay of LEVEL-01 showing gold medals and a ton of chain bonuses all in this level alone using the Ixion. You'll get a better idea about how the medal combining works in RF Jet.

http://www.rf-emporium.net/rfjet/RFJ_LEVEL-01.avi

I will put some serious play time in RFJ this weekend, and I'll post some high scores then.
The age of Alluro and JudgeSpear is over.

As far as I know Japanese version has no loop, US does. Can you check to see what your PCB has?

Also, everyone please remember to add what version you're playing, as well as level reached and whether it' PCB/MAME. Glad to see some healthy participation though.

The highscorelist looks a bit different from elb´s posted pic of the japanese version, the reached level is shown like i.e. "1 - Phase 1", so I assume the european has another loop, like the us-version.

What do you all think about the possibility of more than one entry into the highscoretable for each player, if a different ship is used? I´m playing the Raiden Mark II at the moment, which is very hard, and I think I will never break any highscores with it, but it´s fun to somehow see the "other side" of the game.

.
The new version of MAME 0.93u2 supports even more versions of the SPI games and this gives us:

1 - LEVEL 01 - RFJET (Tuning)
1 - LEVEL 01 - RFJETA (Asia)
1 - LEVEL 01 - RFJETU (USA)
LEVEL 01 - RFJETJ (Japan)

So I think we can assume that the Japanese version is the only one which does not have a loop.

It's horribly annoying how many versions of this game exist when trying to have a level scoring competition. I played through the "Asian" version and it has a loop as well. For now all versions except the Japanese one will be listed in the US table.

Also, I will not be splitting up each ship into it's own chart- things will become far too splintered. If you work at it I'm sure you could do fine with any ship you like.

My old scores:

IlMrm - 57,888,400 - Ixion - Phase 2 [PCB] US

IlMrm - 79,479,914 - Slave(Judge Spear) - Phase 2 [PCB] US

I think it's the US version, since there is a loop.

The furthest I've got into the loop is 2-Level 15 using the Judge Spear Slave. Boy the bullets really fly. That stage order was 1, 5, 15, 30, 40, 50, 2-1, 2-5, 2-15. (I didn't chain the two million+ points medal, so I would be guaranteed to go to level 50).

US ver.-

cigsthecat - 55,000,170 - Ixion - 1-Phase 1 [MAME]

New score. I'm starting to get level 30 under control. Phase 1 is still a big brick wall.
