Negative Feedback on Ebay, Can it be removed?

Post by Diabollokus »

An evil fukker took revenge on my ebay account, left negative feedback for no reason. I was generous leaving neutral for him and his broken product. Leaving negative feedback for no real reason is surely illegal.

You guys report fraudsters all the time, anyone delt with this crap before?

I have a revenge plan if all fails

In aproximately 1 month

I will create a new account on another computer, everything real but not true, eg email adress. I will then win all his buy it now auctions and then leave negative feedback for all of them. I reckon I can win everything he sales inside 30 days before ebay closes the account. At least it will destroy his sales for awhile, lose time and money and effort, obviously the new accountee will not be paying. But I'll feel happier. + I can always make another account afterwards. I don't sell on ebay so he can't do the same to me.

I'm a vengeful bastard.

Note to All: If leaving Negative feedback make sure you've already had feedback left on your profile! Its the best strategy.

read my story: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=

as far as waiting to leave feedback, so you can get yours first. ze bitches i bought from knew full well what they sent (or rather how and when), so they waited until i left feedback first, if i hadn't posted anything, i imagine they basically would have done the same thing... cus they are stupid, monumentally so. and hopefully all the drug abuse has left the guy sterile (no children for him contributes to a better america).
I have no sig whatsoever.

Yeah, its possible its called "Mutual Feedback Rating Withdrawal" but it requires the consent of the seller.

Omg, I thought of doing this to Bullseye, another ebay seller. This bastard is known for his extreme prices for pce/tg16 games and $500-900 Turbo Duos (and they're broken). AFIK this guys isn't around ebay anymore, but he's probably just disguised under a new ebay id.

No I won't be filing for mutual withdrawl, My principles are more important than my feedback rating. Doubt the guy would agree to it.

I sent him an item grading scale in a message from mint to poor condition, including the location of the item he sent me. Really insulted his item description system. He will never forget me.

Contact eBay and explain the situation and they *should* remove the negative feedback from your account.
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

If I can avoid it, I'll never deal with Ebay again. Not that it is ebay's fault so much as the community there getting steadily worse over the last decade. The whole thing is so fucking cutthroat and dishonest that it seems nearly impossible not to get screwed.

I hate it.

I left a guy a neutral a long time ago on an item I never received. He sent me a fake tracking number and everything; but he swore up and down it was shipped. I never got it and left him neutral; he turns around leaves a negative "for not being able to control the post office" and ruined my perfect feedback rating.

Though I still have a perfect feedback I do notice that sellers especially are becoming more hesitant in leaving feedback first. When I had my first transactions, most of the sellers left feedback right after I payed. These days , most wait for my feedback until leaving untill leaving there's. So I feel there's been a major change in trust between sellers and buyers over the possibility of negative feedback. :?

Unfortuntely this seems to be because more "casual" people get around there now too, ...and average human nature... :?

I always wait for feedback from the buyer before leaving mine, but I always leave feedback for sellers as soon as I receive the item.

I only had one negative feedback. Someone won an auction, and immediately (like 10 minutes later) left a negative feedback saying "sell Playstaiton CDRs". Ebay gave me some song & dance about how I had to get a lawyer to have it removed (this was years ago, btw). I basically bitched at them saying 1: How would the buyer know how the fuck I was selling CDRs in 10 minuteS? 2: What he stated was slander, indeed illegal, and they were apart of it. The removed it soonafter.

Sorry man its a safety issue, I'd rather not reveal his identity or my Ebay profile and risk a 6 month track down like yourself, guy knows my parents home address when I strike back I want to make it look like someone else. I'm rather cautious about that kind of thing, people in N.Ireland generally are. End up with hate mail sent to parents or worse...

Idiot poses not threat to shmup community or sales of rare shmups, he sells rental store games that have been extensively used. No radiant silverguns or saphires there.

Sorry I can't contribute anything to your situation Diabollokus, but while the subject is fresh let me just say:
DO NOT deal with USA eBay seller sidearmsalpha
That guy tried his damnedest to rip me off. He had really good feedback - all from buying (once I looked closer).
Then one week in November he ripped off like a dozen people. I fell for his excuses of personal issues, and no internet service, and that he'd mail it on Monday (repeatedly), until it was past PayPal's complaint period (45 days - contrary to the 60 days stated directly on eBay!).
So then I had my VISA credit card do an investigation. VISA pulled the money from his account and refunded it to me in February. He then mailed me the items with delivery confirmation and turned this info over to the VISA investigators who in turn took the money back from me! wtf! I can't even begin to count the hours I spent researching, and emailing, and telephoning to try to get this resolved. And in the end he won. And he knew exactly what he was doing.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/fee ... rawal.html

Short:
According to TOS, they can only do that if
- the negative feedback contains contact information [address/phone #],
- the feedback is from a new account from a blocked bidder trying to bypass the block,
- the bidder bid with only the intention of leaving negative feedback and not the intention to complete the sale [sorry, Diabollokus],
- eBay is provided with a court order stating the feedback is libelous [I assume if it's obviously a lie, that will count, but it's up to eBay],
- the feedback was left in mistake and the correct negative feedback was left for the intended recipient,
- the feedback contains swearing/racial insults/other offensive epithets ["scam artist/con man" is dislikeable but not offensive enough],
- the bidder/seller is suspended for certain policy violations [automatic feedback withdrawal in certain cases]

1. Explaining to Ebay will not work.

2. You won't be able to get your feedback removed for these "minor" issues.

3. Did you check the seller's feedback history before giving feedback? Buyers who give neutral feedback before checking to see if the seller is retaliatory are idiots.

4. Never trust stated item conditions; "mint," "excellent," and "good" are meaningless descriptors. Look at the pictures to see if there are any defects, esp. if a CD is just lying on the ground. Just hope/pray you get a good item and then remember from your feedback which sellers sold good items.

5. Make sure the item description has everything you expect it to have (game, manual, inserts, maps, case, spinecard etc.). "Complete" items oftentimes disregards maps and spinecards (not to mention reg. cards).

6. Ebay's feedback system is completely stupid. Paypal payments within the seller's requested period of time should ALWAYS result in automatic positive feedback for the buyer. That way, there is no chance for retaliatory feedback and it guarantees that payment has been made. They can already track whether or not you paid for the item through Paypal; why they wouldn't implement this system seems to me either extreme laziness (since their site has often been quite buggy) or complete apathy towards buyers.

Anyway, I still have perfect feedback but find the whole system a huge hassle for that 2% of the time where the seller is a lying jackass.

I've just been scammed on ebay for the first time. Bougt a game from the_game_hut in January, never received it.

He kept stalling until the 45-day period during which you can get your money back from paypal had passed (I had no idea such a period existed before).

He's got lots of bad feedback now, but didn't have any when I bought the game.

Oh, and this asshole is giving negative feedback to anyone who gives him negative feedback, so I haven't left any yet.

The feedback system of ebay is severely flawed.

The 45-day period is complete nonionse  . you cannot reach anywhere via surface during this period. This simply made shipping via surface out of the question when selling items via PayPal. :x

Since the buyer (who knows about the 45-day period) could filed "item not received" and get their money back well before your good actually reaches the buyer via surface. :x

Doesn't the ebay feedback system suck? You as seller fulfill your obligation by paying right away and therefore deserve positive feedback, the seller doesn't ship at all, or late, or crap and deserves bad feedback but if you give him what he deserves then you get negative feedback yourself as revenge.

If you paid in time there should be no way for a seller to give you negative feedback.

What about the buyers who can't seem to read the auction description, pay immediately, and then take issue with the goods? At which point, instead of e-mailing the seller to voice any misdirected displeasure, they lodge a complaint on Paypal which has to be dealt with? All of this despite no wrongdoing on the seller's part? There are plenty of ways buyers can hose sellers after payment... and some people are just morons or assholes (or both).

I'll admit the current feedback system is flawed but I don't see automatic feedback being a solution either.

Well, that's what follow-ups are for. Either way, the buyer has done his/her share of the bargain with the payment. Unless the buyer tries to pull the payment (in which case delivery confirmation/receipts ought to be required), there shouldn't be issues.

Yeah, either way, it's not perfect. Ebay could spend time allowing feedback removal on a case-by-case basis but they're way too greedy to spend money for that.

The main reason PayPal = instant Buyer Positive isn't instituted is that the feedback system was implemented as is before PayPal even existed.

A secondary reason is that buyers might claim the item got lost in the mail [which could be disproved with Delivery Confirmation] or want a return for XYZ reason and be overall a hassle to deal with, so a seller might withhold positive feedback until the buyer reports a successful transaction.

It's really kind of silly to give revenge feedback over a neutral, though :? since a neutral won't visibly affect a 100% feedback [as with mine--I had a very generous buyer put up with my mishandling back in the day when I tried selling things]. You can't even selectively view only neutrals or negatives, either, like you could with Yahoo! Auctions, so someone would often have to dig through pages and pages of feedback to find that one stray neutral or negative.
