Nintendo DS & Lite Screen Brightness Comparison...

Post by ST Dragon »

I was thinking about buying the Nintendo DS, and then I came across this screen brightness comparison with the DS Lite.

The Lite's screen looks a lot brighter and more eye friendly than the original bulkier DS.

I've got one of the dark blue Lites pre-ordered. But judging from the shortages I may not actually see it until April I'm betting. :(

Yeah, that really does look nicer. Perhaps I should sell my old one to get one of these, since the bulkiness of the original is a genuine problem for me.

By the way, can the DS play Game Boy / Colour Roms via an emulator loaded in a Flash Rom Cart, similar to the ones for the GBA?

Incredible side-by-side video comparison here.

The difference in brightness is just phenominal

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up getting a DS Lite when it's released in the US, although I've got no idea when that'll be (they could probably sell every single unit they can churn out in Japan for quite a while still if the current demand is any indication...)

DS is only backward compatible with GBA, not GB or GBC.

and game boy micro is not backward compatible with anything.

AFAIK, the DS will run any GBA software that works on a standard GBA. Though, there is no way for the GBA software to access the DS-specific hardware (meaning the Y&X buttons, the touch screen, the wireless, the DS card slot).
