Arcooda 26" (1440x1080 4:3) in 120hz w/RT4K

Post by SavagePencil »

I recently got an Arcooda 26" 4:3 monitor. It's working great, but for fun I decided to see if I could push it to 120hz.

For 60hz, I'm using the modeline that Bob posted:

Code: Select all

1440, 8, 32, 80, 1, 1080, 17, 8, 31, 0, 60, “1440x1080p60 4:3 monitor”
I went to the calculator to try my hand at creating a 120hz one, but I think my modeline may be incorrect:

Code: Select all

1440, 8, 32, 80, 1, 1080, 50, 8, 64, 0, 120, "1440x1080p120"
I wasn't sure which column I should be copying from (CVT-RBv2?), but this modeline does work. Sorta.

What does work with the RT4K with this modeline:
  • Runs fine with Triple Buffer, Gen Lock, Frame Lock
  • HDR works
What does NOT work:
  • VRR won't work (won't even sync at all) - this does work in 60Hz.
  • Changing any BFI setting (blur, strobe, the new rolling beam stuff) won't work (runs for a bit, then loses sync)

Here's the link if you want to order your own Arcooda 26" 4:3 monitor: https://www.arcooda.com/buy/26-inch-Arc ... 1080-20218

Seems like you need to add an external SLG if you want scanlines with the Arcooda lineup of monitors.

Definitely can! But there’s something cool about letting an external scaler do BFI or rolling scan emulation to add to it!

If my K7000 ever craps out on my Mace cab, either this or my of my Hitachi dual scans is going in. I so much want to use the medium res mode, but I cant bring myself to touch the K7000, which aside from a bit of light burn in has the most stable CRT picture Ive ever seen.

Has anybody ever tried the xrgb freimeister with the arcooda 26" monitor (1440x1080) ?
Could it be a viable solution for 240p and 480i console?

Thank you in advance

Specs from the manufacturer say it's a 60Hz monitor.

No information anywhere about the HDMI port. No idea what the bandwidth limitations are.

You might try feeding the BlurBuster website and testing to see if it's dropping frames. I overclocked a Vizio panel years ago and it was happy to sync with 120Hz inputs within the bandwidth of the HDMI, but it dropped half the frames.

Regardless of the situation, you're pushing past the manufacturer's specs. It's not particularly surprising that it's malfunctioning.
