Hello everyone,
After a long wait, I finally received the gscart Automatic 8:2 SCART switch with sync regeneration & Sync on Green support.
My setup now looks like this.
- Consoles:
- Master System
- Mega Drive
- Saturn
- Dreamcast
- PlayStation 2
- PC Engine Duo
- gscart
- Retrotink 4K
All consoles are connected to the gscart with a Retrogamingcable RGB SCART cables. An RGB SCART extension cable from Retrogamingcables also runs from the gscart to the Retrotink 4K.
All consoles work perfectly. However, on the PC Engine Duo, the green LED on the gscart flashes and the picture tilts to purple.
If I connect the Duo directly to the Retrotink 4K, I get a perfect picture.
Can anyone help? Do I need a different RGB SCART cable for the Duo?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Gscartsw -> Retrotink. 4k PC Engine Problem
Using a Retrotink Scart to HDMI or Retrotink X5-Pro with a PC Engine Duo + RGB Scart cable works just fine -- it could be that the PCE-Duo with said RGB Scart cable could be "tempermental at times." Just hook up your PCE Duo to the Retrotink 4K directly and bypass the gscart switcher altogether.
Is the PC Engine Duo's RGB Scart cable wired up for C-Sync? The Retro tink upscalers will accept that type of Scart cable without any issues/problems.

I run my PC Engine Duo through a GscartSW just fine. Mine was modded for csync. Now I am running it through a gscart lite which I think is different than the modern Gscarts. Do you know how your PCEngine Duo was modded? Looking real quick on castlemania's website it looks like all of the dip switches ship set to off. Have you tried turning the dip switch for sync regeneration to on? It looks like for that it would be dip switch 1 and you want it down (it says up is off)

Thanks for the feedback.
I just noticed that I have a Sync on CVBS cable for the PC Engine. I received this cable directly with the PC Engine. As I said, if I plug the cable directly into the Retrotink 4K, RGB works.
A CSync cable is still available from Retrogamingcables: https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/pc- ... o-av-cable
Would that be the solution?
I asked about the mod...
I've also tried DIP 1, but unfortunately, it didn't work.
I specifically bought the gscart to finally have a solution for all consoles, so I don't want a workaround.

I would send that link to who ever modded your system. I have no idea how they wired up the new din port on your system. If that matches and they wired up the mod to also support csync you should be good, but definitely check with the modder first for how they wired up the port.
Re: Gscartsw -> Retrotink. 4k PC Engine Problem
It's more than likely the mod and possibly even the cable. There have been some real slapped together Duo mods through the years and you getting the cable bundled is in line with that. DoujinDance especially put out some real junky stuff in his early years. I personally wouldn't go chasing a fix on something like that. Get the mod redone and buy a new cable. The Turbonanza is the go to these days and the Voultar RGB mod also works fine.

Nowadays, DoujinDance has improved his RGB mods with the PC Engine & Duo/Duo-R/Duo-RX console mods with his own custom-made line of pcbs & upgrades. He even offers a custom-made 3D printed PSOne RGB endowed LCD screen adapter to hook up to either a PC Engine/Core Grafx/Core Grafx II console with it's 5" screen setup -- how cool is that?

Everything's working now. I took the console to the modder, and the problem was quickly identified. The sync is now running via the original composite signal again.
