Sony KV-13M10 Turns On Then Off

Post by opaux »

Hello all. I've been trying for many, many hours to fix a 13M10 that was given to me broken. The symptoms I'm having are that the set will power on, you can hear the high voltage static crackling, but then after 2 seconds or so, the relay clicks the set off. After probing a few pins, I've found a couple of things:

- the + and - 13V lines are shorted to ground
- the H1 and H2 pins are shorted to ground
- typical behavior from the micom reset pin (consistently at 5V)
- typical behavior from the micom relay pin
- atypical behavior from the micom protection pin
- typical operating voltage supposed to be -0.2V according to manual, instead I get this waveform: https://imgur.com/gallery/i-prot-micom- ... or-yTu3kdK

All the important capacitors tested out fine and there seems to be no sketchy solder joints. I happen to have a KV-13V50, which luckily has numerous parts which are identical/compatible to the 13M10, so I was able to try many things including:

- flyback swap
- tube swap
- jungle IC swap
- vertical out IC swap

All of which led to no improvements. I was unable to analyze the I2C lines to try and extrapolate any data from those, but I'll have my logic analyzer soon so I'll take a look at that if need be. If anyone has any questions that would better assist you in guiding me, or any advice, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I really don't wanna have to put this project to bed, but I'm almost out of ideas here.
