So now that you can emulate PS4 using ShadPS4 I tried Battle Garegga Rev. 2016 and it worked without any issue. But I'm wondering how much lag the emulation adds to the game.
First of all when you set the in game Latency Reduction Settings to 1 instead of On it feels like it reduces lag probably to 1 frame and keeps the original 3 frames when you select On.
But I don't know if the emulation adds any more frames on top of it.
In Retroarch Battle Garegga I pressed the K button 4 times before I saw the result of my input which I thought it meant that it adds 1 more frame on top of the original 3?
And in Groovymame I don't know if there is any added lag on top of the original 3 since I can't test it. Also I couldn't find the CORE SWITCHRES OPTIONS in the mame.ini file which had the monitor setting under it to turn it to "lcd" if you're using an lcd screen. That's the only thing you had to set when I last used it from what I remember.
So anyone has any information about any of this or can correct me about anything I said above?

So y’all call yourselves shmuppers none of y’all have anything to add to (or correct) this?!

It's been less than 24 hours between your posts, and you posted late on a weekend when shmuppers are, in all likelihood, shmupping.
I've never heard of ShadPS4; given it's a relatively recent emulator (first build is Sep. 2023) I imagine more people here paid for a copy of the Shottriggers release of Battle Garegga than have emulated it if they, as you say, call themselves shmuppers.
Even the best emulation tends to add input lag because that's kind of to be expected due to all the emulation overhead. Conservatively you should always expect 1 or 2 frames added at least whenever you're emulating. This is especially true with new emulators that are likely to be focusing on compatibility before introducing input delay optimizations. Other factors can come in to play such as playing games in Windowed mode tends to add more lag rather than playing Full Screen on PC due to the way graphics are handled.

But I did buy it guys look!
Ok I did pirate it but I'm not going to buy a playstation for 2 games (the other one being Bloodborne). If it was released for PC I definitely would buy it though.
However at the end of the day I am still pirating it yes.
On another note why do ppl call retroarch gay even though it is capable of removing that 1 frame the emulation adds using run ahead and prefer groovymame even though it possibly does add a frame of input lag (if you're using lcd more specifically)

Re: Battle Garegga lag comparison of emulations
I remember in the early days of Shad PS4 that Garegga would just boot to a blank screen, so that’s great news that it’s playable now.
I have a digital version of Garegga Rev. 2016 on PS4, but it’s kind of inconvenient to have to play on a console.
Shad PS4 can run Bloodborne on Steam Deck, so I’m assuming Garegga would work there too? That’s good news since the arcade version of Garegga is nigh unplayable with its light gray invisabullets, while you can fix it in Rev. 2016.

Re: Battle Garegga lag comparison of emulations
Yeah, I remember that too — early builds of Shad PS4 really struggled with anything non-standard. The fact that Garegga Rev. 2016 runs now is a big deal, especially since that version fixes so many of the original's visibility issues.

ShadPS4 is just a translation layer, like Wine is to Windows programs on Linux. I doubt it adds any significant overhead or additional input lag.
