Once you install the Triple Bypass board does it no longer use the YM2612? These were the only Model 2s to have the discrete YM2612 but if you plan to install a triple bypass is it no longer used or? I've searched around but the only thing I can find is "makes any model 2 or 3 sound like a Model 1 VA3", does that mean in terms of how clean it sounds or, it literally sounds like the YM2612? Certain games were of course designed around it (some late Genesis games on the other hand were designed around the YM3438, but not as many), for example games using the "ladder effect". do those sound the same or not really?
Otherwise there's not much point hunting one of these down over any other variant that has a YM3438 instead?

Re: Installing a 3BP on a Genesis Model 2 VA2/2.3
The TripleBypass only replaces the audio/video amplifier, the sound will still be generated by the YM2612 and it will differ from other second models. I had experience with only one va2.3, and installing TB there had virtually no effect on the sound and picture, unlike va0-1.8, where the effect on sound quality is dramatic. Find va3, or even better va4, where the mods only need to lift the pin from the subcarrier and there will be a perfect picture and great sound without any mods.
