Normal: 3 lives, difficulty 2, extends at 2,500,000 and 5,000,000 (Original) + 10,000,000 and 25,000,000 (Maniac and Ultra). For the PS2 port, 3 bombs as well.
Novice: 3 lives, difficulty 2, extends at 1,250,000 and 2,500,000 (Original) + 5,000,000 and 12,500,000 (Maniac and Ultra).
ver 1.5: 3 lives, difficulty 2, extends at 5,000,000 and 10,000,000 (Original) + 20,000,000 and 40,000,000 (Maniac and Ultra).
Arrange (later): 3 lives, extends at 500,000,000 and 1,000,000,000.

External autofire (rapid on) is infamously known to grant advantages in this game. The use of external autofire beyond the original game (and Novice) has not been (publicly) researched, but it's likely just as useful in 1.5 and the Arranges. Tables have always and will continue to be split. Please always note what you've used. (please don't abuse this)

There exists a Blue Label that was only ever shown at CAVE Matsuris. I doubt it'll ever reappear. It just sounds like a prototype of 1.5, though.

ver 1.5 was originally a limited edition arcade release. Good luck finding the original arcade version these days, and be wary of it if you do, as I am told it's buggy and not worth playing. Maybe it'll end up in MAME someday and we can look at it better.

Please post scores in this format:

Code: Select all

GAME - MODE - RAPID
NAME - SCORE - STAGE (- RAPID SETTING) - DETAILS
DETAILS is for what console/emulator, what region release, etc. RAPID SETTING is only for the rapid on tables. I would put STARTING POWER and PLAYER SIDE fields, but nobody seems to care.

Honestly, I'm wondering what the point of even splitting for rapid is. Maniac and Ultra are complete nonsense without it, it's a native feature in both ports, and it's basically impossible to figure out if it wasn't used without carefully studying every run or whatever. I'm pretty sure all the 1.5 Maniac scores used rapid, I just put them in the rapid off board because it wasn't specified. I'd much rather get rid of all these extra tables if at all possible.

Does anyone still out there agree? Do we really still need to split for this in these circumstances, or can we just go forward with the expectation that rapid is simply how you get big points in this game?

I guess keeping them separated makes it fair for anyone that wants to try and do it the masochistic way. Maybe just a "rapid on/off" note if you want to combine them?
