I need help choosing a controller

Post by Mechanical Lizard »

hi, I'm a user that plays on gamepad, I used to have a logitech f310 but the dpad got damaged, so I got a sega saturn wired from retrobit, but it causes a LOT of issues on my pc, like disconnects it from internet, doesnt let it shutting down, automatic suspend (monitor) doesnt work, and doesn't support some games, so even if the dpad is perfect is causing too many issues
soo if anyone has a suggestion for a good controller I would be thankful

The retro fighters brawler 64 has scratched all my itches. There's wired and wireless versions.

The Hori Fighting Commander for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows (through Direct X input) is an excellent gamepad setup with it's six button layout that's perfect for both stgs and fighting-based games. Unfortunately, it's no longer being manufactured and is only available on the secondary market through eBay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, etc. The trusty Logitech F310 based gamepad is still available to buy brand new on Amazon.com in 2025, so there's that.

Is a wired controller what you're after? If you're a fan of that Saturn style dpad I'd recommend the M30 from 8bitdo. I own the wireless versions, but I see that they now make a wired variant. The M30 are very comfortable to use. It's a popular Sega Genesis controller replacement and some people use the Bluetooth version as their wireless controller of choice with the Sega Saturn. This wired version is color coded to Xbox buttons which feels like the right choice for a PC controller.

It also looks like the cord is detachable. If your USB issues present again you could at least get in the habit of disconnecting without the hassle of unplugging at your computer.
