I might pick it up on Steam it is on sale for around $10 right now. I played the first one but it felt like a flash version of Shikigami No Shiro. I feel bad for anyone who dropped 2K on the EXA-Arcadia version. It is a $10 dollar game at most.

The Steam port of Shikihondo: Youkai Rampage is a mere 795.98mb d/l with the ability to tate as well. Plays great on a Steam Deck setup.

This game has a pretty fantastic art style, but it's lack of animation and FX make it feel like a flash game.
If there was more love put into it, a la Vanillaware style production, it could have been something absolutely amazing.

Is this a re-release of the first game, Soul Eater, with some added details/ options?

Not sure but I was sent an offer to purchase the game for $6.29 for purchasing the first one and will check it out.

I have my Steam Deck running in the Arcade. Really easy with the Universal Fighting Board as the controller interface.

The Switch port of "Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage" debuted on the USA region Switch eShop site on 5/29/2025 with an MSRP of $24.99 usd and is an approximately 888mb digital d/l at best. It does run at a silky-smooth arcade-spec 60fps framerate + "tate" option is included this time around -- looks & plays awesomely on an Oled Switch setup. No online leaderboard support whatsoever but does have local leaderboard support in saving both your high scores and high score initials (up to 8 characters enter-able maximum). No replay saving functionality whatsoever (but would've been nice to have seen implemented this second time around). If tate is turned on, it uses the entire screen "real estate" space-wise but is still using a 4:3 aspect ratio for actual gameplay while the top & bottom portions of the screen display the important 411 of gaming infometrics as usual.

----------
Unlike with the Steam port of S:YR which has nudity, the Switch port covers up the nipples on the end-stage bosses for a more family-friendly/oriented affair this time around (so yes, fellow shmupper dumsumgoy if you're reading this, you can play the Switch port of S:YR around the wife & kiddos without feeling guilty or looking over your shoulder type of deal/situation as it's quite a tame & toned-down version Switch stg compared to it's "M-rated" Steam port counterpart of the same name indeed).
