Framemeister not working with a new out of box LG C2?

Post by Just Some Guy »

Hello everyone. I was really hoping someone knowledgeable on the Framemeister and hopefully the LG C2 can clarify what I’m doing wrong or what is wrong with my Framemeister perhaps. I’ve had my Framemeister for years and it worked with all 7 consoles I own on my old no longer available LED TV. The only issue I ever experienced with it since first buying it was sometimes audio was not there with analog inputs of any kind until the Framemeister received an HDMI signal for about ten minutes using pass through mode or not. So if I played an Xbox 360 game or fed the signal to the TV through pass through mode after ten minutes if I then switched to any analog source like say my N64 the sound would work again. Strange bug I guess? Other than that no issues with the unit. Now however I have a LG C2 straight out of an unopened box I just hooked up all my consoles and the Framemeister but some profiles I load for some reason display really strange. Instead of the usual blue background menu and white letters/numbers displayed by the Framemeister menus the white letters/numbers turn lime green and the blue background is pink! Wtf?!? It seems it’s for profiles that are not set to RGB weather it’s full or limited… I think I finally figured that out. If video is set to auto it’s all green and pink. Secondly after screwing with settings for hours trying to find the problem with settings on the FM or possibly the TV I tried powering on my NES to see what happens. Nothing! The TV goes black screen a few seconds than one the background screen pictures the C2 has with the box stating no signal is detected to check connections etc. After fiddling through settings on both the FM and the C2 for hours no change and testing to see if my Xbox 360 works on the TV which it does I just gave up. Here I am. This makes me want the Tink 4K more than ever that’s for sure but in the main time am I screwed. God I hate the FM! Please help me out anyone and thank you I’m grateful if you do message anything

Have you tried disabling Deep Color on that HDMI input? I recall that giving a pink tint to the screen if enabled. It's somewhere buried in the LG TV settings menu and should have on and off toggles for each hdmi input.

Are you on the last firmware the Framemeister received before they retired it? I can't remember what it changed, but I recall it helping some people with 4k TV's.

Deep color setting isn’t enabled on any profiles I have saved. I have firmware 2.03 I believe so the 2nd to the latest firmware I believe. I did really quick try the Xbox 360 through the Framemeister without pass through to see if the TV accepts a signal through the FM that is HDMI in origin and as expected it works just fine. Again the only analog console I tried was the NES through the FM. I’ll try more analog consoles tomorrow I got work tomorrow and it’s late. But I’m pretty sure it’s settings not set to RGB that piss the TV making the pink and green. Weather it’s set to limited or full the FM menus are normal however regardless of this the NES will not display at all on the TV. Frustrating. Thanks for helping

Check the HDMI deep color setting on the TV rather than the FM profile.

On my LG C1 it's under: Settings -> General -> Devices -> HDMI Settings -> HDMI Deep Color

I can try that but I did manage to figure out that the pink and green colors only displayed is fixed by switching the color setting on FM from auto to RGB that at least does work. I figured out what my NES issue was this is so stupid. We all know the og NES has the stupid cartridge problem where you gotta insert the cart a million times and blow in ie etc…. Turns out if the cart is malfunctioning without the power light blinking the tv won’t display anything. That’s why I got the no signal message I feel dumb as hell. So that’s solved. But I cannot get my FM to have any audio anymore. My old truck in my old tv won’t work. So I guess I’m screwed until I get the $750 for a Tink 4K. It’s fine though I did have many years use of the FM and an upgrade is very welcome I actually can’t wait for the Tink. Anyway if anyone knows how to fix the FM audio bug I have because they encountered this themselves if love to know. I’m sure my FM was faulty from day one though. Thanks for the replies guys you are awesome

Gara and Alex you were right!!! It was the deep color setting on the LG C2 in the HDMI settings that caused the crazy colors! I even got sound when I first tried the NES input I believe I was only lucky this time that bug I’m sure will continue. So I no longer have to set to RHB limited on the XRGB and can do Auto limited as intended. Thanks guys I wouldn’t have ever figured this out I am guessing. God the people on Shmups are awesome hell yeah

Glad that solved it. I just remembered where I saw a video about audio not working and the pink tint.

https://youtu.be/dym6XD3-8qw?si=gWJk458z1ax7PAAD&t=1103

Going by the above video the sound not working is also related to the Deep Color setting, so you might be good to go.
