Sony to release PS5 based "My First Gran Turismo" on 12-06-2024

Just got word that Sony has plans to release the PS5 racing game called "My First Gran Turismo" as a free d/l on 12/06/2024 (which includes the USA region PlayStation Store site as well). Just like with Gran Turismo 7 having dedicated PSVR2 support, MFGT will have PSVR2 support from the "get-go" also. Should be awesome to see how it plays out, gameplay-wise, using the already well-established GT7 "in-game" engine to render it -- a retro throwback tribute/nod to the original Gran Turismo racer on the PSX/PSOne circa 1997.

The real question to ask is: How small or big is the actual MFGT game d/l itself?

Sounds interesting; likely a way to get new players interested in the series, or - blue sky thinking - a we're sorry to the legacy crowd for releasing GT7 as a slot machine feat. racing side-game.

I do hope they have the restraint to focus on the racing this time, even though it's in already dangerous F2P waters. The collision between classy(?) track day cafe foppery and Hit The Lever really put a ding in the series' otherwise monolithic pedigree.

MFGT is available for both PS4 and PS5 consoles. It's a 13.10gb d/l for the PS5 version with support for PSVR2 as well. Turns out the PS5 MFGT game d/l offers 18 different cars (all are locked at default and are unlocked upon completing certain goals like earning licenses, winning races, etc). Three tracks from the classic PSX GT1 release are available to race on. A license tutorial is provided and upon completing it, you'll earn up to 3 of them to unlock the remaining cars. MFGT really does showcase what the Dual Sense controller's haptic feedback does during acceleration and braking during racing sessions. Eventually, "practice laps" option will be unlocked.

I'm playing it on PS4 (60fps 1080p).
Spectacular for being free...am I wrong or is it basically GT1 remake? Those 3 tracks tell me something...
