Mitsubishi Megaview Shutdown Issue

Post by impulse240 »

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Megaview XC-2930c with some intermittent issues. After it warms up for a while and when switching from 15khz to 31khz (480i to 480p) mode the screen goes black. Loses HV and the fans slow down. (crt heater goes dim) You can continue to switch back and forth between modes (hear the relay clicking) but the screen doesn't come back. When you turn it off and back on it starts up fine.

I've been told that it could be the flyback winding shorting internally but I am looking for a second opinion because replacing the flyback isn't a readily available option for this monitor. There are a couple other large transformers on the power and HV board. As well as the deflection sub board. Maybe these could be shorting?

So far I've replaced a good number of caps that tested out of spec with an ESR meter. Some were physically leaking. This fixed another issue I was having and improved some other oddities but not this issue. Does anyone have any tips on what to check or know what's going wrong? Thanks
