I have one of these nifty Raphnet adapters that allows you to play GC games using a SNES controller.

I’ve found a cheat that allows you to play Zelda Four Swords using a D-pad. So to get the best OG Zelda experience I hooked up my SNES controller to my GC. But for some reason R is not mapped properly. Using a GC controller R makes Link roll or lift an item. But on the SNES controller it’s not doing a jack shit. Is there a way to map the GC buttons properly? I haven’t found any setting in Swiss that allows for this.
I’ve also tried using ny 8Bitdo SN30 2.4g controller on the adapter but the issue is the same.
Anyone with experience of these adapters?

Re: Raphnet SNES to GC adapter
The Raphnet adapter supports a bunch of different button mappings: https://www.raphnet-tech.com/support/ma ... apping.php
That's for adapters shipped with the v2 firmware (2018+).

Re: Raphnet SNES to GC adapter
The issue seems to be that it doesn’t support the analogue triggers. And the game uses R to roll.Guspaz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:29 pm The Raphnet adapter supports a bunch of different button mappings: https://www.raphnet-tech.com/support/ma ... apping.php

How does one remap R to another button?
I can’t make it out by reading the mapping info on that website.
Re: Raphnet SNES to GC adapter
You can't manually remap individual buttons. Several of the mappings listed on the site map the SNES R to the gamecube R and emulate the analog part.
Re: Raphnet SNES to GC adapter
Just tried this with my raphnet v1 adapter. The gamecube controller test program does show the SNES controller mapping R correctly. However, Four Swords doesn't use the full R press to activate the action, instead it activates it when the analog trigger is at the maximum value (before the click at the end), which the raphnet adapter (at least my v1) doesn't seem to do.
Are you able to update the firmware? The changelog for the adapter manager lists v2.5 as the latest for the SNES-to-GC adapter, and the changelog specifically mentions L/R analog changes.
Other than that, all I can suggest is trying to contact Raphnet to see if they have any advice.

It seems to require setting the adapter to use the alternate 4-bit mode using the adapter manager tool. If four swords is expecting this alternate mode like Luigi's Mansion, that could explain the problem.Implement seldom used Gamecube status reporting (C-stick and/or L/R analog can be made to use 4 bit instead of 8 bit). (Fixes Luigi's mansion vacuum and possibly other games)

Re: Raphnet SNES to GC adapter
Thanks for your input. I remember I had downloaded a Raphnet firmware updater the other year. They used to have a weird updater. It's basically an app for Wii. And you hook up your Raphnet adapter to your wii and install the firmware to the adapter from the Wii Homebrew browser.Guspaz wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:06 am Just tried this with my raphnet v1 adapter. However the latest firmware I could find on the updater was 2.4. It seems that Raphnet have went on and used a different method to update their firmware by using USB.
I've mailed Raphnet support if it's still possible to update my adapter to 2.5.
