That's BS (in my opinion). The Extron will perform a standard framerate conversion by adding duplicate frames. For video games that's a pretty big no go, since there's just no way to convert from 50Hz to 60Hz without introducing massive stutter. I have an Extron 401 (no A), but the differences between the two are minor and I don't see the A having such magic feature over the 401.
What's your setup ? Or in other words: why are you looking to perform a frame rate conversion like this ? The only setup I ever had to deal with that required this was my first flat screen TV in 2004, which would only accept its native resolution via VGA, which in return wasn't compatible with 50Hz signals.
(this said: if you feel like want to part with your 401A, get in touch. I wanted to upgrade my 401 to a 401A for a while, but wasn't able to find one yet).

Why are you looking for motion interpolation in the first place? Genuine 50 or 60fps aren't bad from a classic system.
There is no external hardware that will perform motion interpolation on a quality level you're looking for while still remaining affordable or without adding so much lag that it will turn your game unplayable.
You can look at DIY-madVR setup, which can you offer you live motion interpolation if your hardware is powerful enough. I think it can be paired with a capture card to allow you to input a video game signal into its processing path.
