VF4 is about a 5 year old game now. Even when Final Tuned came out, it was still "old". It didn't drag too many people in. Wait until March or whenever VF5 comes out. It will crush everything, just like 4 did. Game Operators should sell their Tekken 5 cabs now.- Virtua Fighter is nowhere to be found (thought it would be there somewhere...)
What's impressive is that ESPGaluda II is on there at all. It's going up against versus games, which traditionally suck in way more credits than a shooter.

Samurai Shodown IV > 3rd Strike.... there, I said it.professor ganson wrote:I decided at some point that Third Strike is the only fighter I need. I haven't missed the others at all since selling them.
Feedback will set you free.

Nothing really surprising there compared to previous stats besides VF getting knocked out. Gundam is always near tops. KOF is always on there. Guilty Gear is always on there. The newest shooter is often on there. You'd expect Hokuto no Ken to be on there. If a 13-year-old beat-em-up like Tenchi wo Kurau II can still make the top 10, nothing else really seems surprising...
Bold words. But I'll raise you a Sam Sho 3 > every other SS.Acid King wrote: Samurai Shodown IV > 3rd Strike.... there, I said it.
It took me roughly a year to like 3rd Strike. Aesthetically, the game's bland. It may seem odd, but the backgrounds and music of a fighter matter to me as much as the gameplay does.
I agree with you there. I find the backgrounds in 3rd Strike to be pretty dull. Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 and Garou Mark Of The Wolves had incredible backgrounds.LoneSage wrote:

Hmmm, I actually have Samurai Shodown II-- forgot about that. But haven't played IV.Acid King wrote:Samurai Shodown IV > 3rd Strike.... there, I said it.professor ganson wrote:I decided at some point that Third Strike is the only fighter I need. IV had a feeling of "been there, done that". It feels like SS3.5 to me; I'd say the best thing about IV is the inclusion of the new characters. What I found odd is that instead of fixing the balance, SNK just added another health bar. Still a good game, but with all the previous games until then, each installment had been such a drastic leap from the previous one.
But SS3, that game is poetry in motion. Still one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.

I've played Pop'n ONCE at an arcade, I think it might have been 11th. Needless to say I couldn't press the right buttons since I've never touched a Pop'n control panel in my life. Failed the easiest song.
I might just pick up some of the Konami Best re-releases and build my own controller, should be an even simpler job than IIDX.

Explains why like SSIII so much, that game is absolutely gorgeous both visually and aurally. It plays MUCH better than most people think as well. Kind of a shame that while SSIV and SSV made gameplay changes and additions the number (and quality) of backgrounds and music variety still hasn't topped SSIII.LoneSage wrote:Bold words. 3rd Strike is certainly better than those for competitive play. Might be also that CvS2 has good homeports on DC and PS2. I've heard the same as Dandy J about the Japanese not liking MvC2 - can't blame them, game is almost as bad as Xmen vs. Streetfighter in terms of ridiculous combos, balance etc.superhitachi4 wrote:Would've liked to see more Neo stuff, but at least KoF 2002's in there. Also nice to see 3rd Strike up there (not too surprised hehe), but where are Marvel vs Capcom 2, and Capcom vs SNK 2?
SSIII has great atmosphere, love it for its corniness if not gameplay. A must own.
im totally objective here since i dont play fighters, but 3rd strike is definetly the fighter that gets the most play in my arcade, its on non-stop pretty much..
MvC2, MOTW, Tekken tag and guilty gear ??? get alot of play aswell, but nowhere near as much as 3s...

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was pretty well-liked there, it's just a matter of the game's age. The Dreamcast port was out in Japan back before the arcade version even came over to the US to put it in perspective.Neon wrote:I've heard the same as Dandy J about the Japanese not liking MvC2 - can't blame them, game is almost as bad as Xmen vs. Streetfighter in terms of ridiculous combos, balance etc.
It's definitely lasted longer here though. Hell I wish I still had the URL for that Japanese site that was still finidng new tricks in Fatal Fury Special. That has to be one of the most fun fighters ever made.
