I was thinking of picking it up as a pay day treat. I can't find a single thread on it.

Never awake - Nobody talking about this?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Geez, thats 2 games I couldn't find. One because the subtitle was in Japanese and the other because of no spaces.
Mind you, officially there is no spaces by the looks.. I never even noticed until now. The search engine in this forum didn't pick up a single entity of "Never Awake".

Luckily, this game is ass so there’s no need for anyone to find it or talk about it.
Formerly known as 8 1/2. I return on my second credit!

Hm… I love this game.
I mean, it’s not a trad STG… not at all.
It’s a twin-stick, which I adore and wish would become the norm for future STG releases…
It’s got a weird as hell, 2D art style and a bizarre progression/scoring system that is completely unique as far as I’m aware of.
I bought this game on a whim while it was on sale and don’t regret it. In fact, I’m super happy that I ended up supporting developers that are trying something a little different, rather than dropping that cash on another famicom-style, shitty 10 minute pump n dump like Missile Dancer, Raging Blaster, etc etc.
It’s worth $20 if you’re into the genre, have an open mind and aren’t afraid of trying something new.

I picked this game up on sale for PS5 and didn't like it. Mind you, I like a lot of games that get hated on, but this one is so lazy in its design. You go in a loop until you fill the meter to go to the next level. The shooting and dodging is not fun IMO. Even on sale, I feel kinda ripped off.
