Sony PVM-2950QM can no longer access service menu
Sony PVM-2950QM can no longer access service menu
I recently bought a compatible remote for this PVM and it has been working for several months. However, as of a few days ago I am no longer able to access the service menu - from standby press Display, Channel 5, Volume +, then Power On; the PVM powers on at the end of this sequence but the service menu is not shown as it should do. The remote light activates for each button press, and all the other remote functions work as normal when the PVM is powered on so I don't think it's a problem with the remote. I also don't think it's an EPROM issue as settings changes in the normal menus are accessible and can be adjusted / saved. Any 2950 owners here who have seen anything similar to this?

So, you’ve been able to access the service menu in the past with that remote code? That’s interesting, I didn’t know some PVMs use the same remote code as the consumer sets. I wish I had more advice, I just wanted to confirm that this remote code has worked for you before in the past.

Yes, the remote has been working for accessing the service mode for several months.

OK, feel stupid now - I tried taking the batteries in the remote out then put them back in, and it seems the issue was with the remote as I can now get back into the service menu. Not sure if the remote is official or a Chinese knock-off. It looks like an official Sony remote, but there is a shiny silver warranty sticker placed on top of the Sony logo. This is one I purchased, although the one I bought is silver, the seller has since updated the listing. There's no Sony logo in the one pictured in the listing either.
On another note, I have another very minor issue - I notice that the OSD text is not well focussed. I read on a reddit post that the OSD has its own focus setting separate from the actual screen focus on the flyback. Has anyone else experienced this? There's definitely no setting for it in either the service or normal menus.
