Need some help with Philips PM 5639 Color Analyzer

Post by tr1f0rc3 »

Got a PM 5639 with a PM 5639/83 color alignment gen. I have a BVM A20 and would really like to test the probe setting for the automatic adjustment as I have seen the PM 5639 listed as a probe (default probe being the bkm 14L) . How can I go about doing this? I know nothing about these devices and I did look into the manual in the suitcase but no luck with instructions on how I can connect it to a BVM for probe feature. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

This equipment looks very old, so likely it's out of spec and will only give you false/poor readings. We have much better and accurate alternatives nowadays like the i1Display Pro/Colormunki Display.
I dont have this specific monitor, but if you still want to connect the probe to see how the automatic calibration works, I believe you just need to connect the device to the monitor's communication ports, the probe to the center of the display, and navigate through the color calibration menus to start the automatic process.

Seems impossible to find the specific cable needed for a connection, I'll have to make my own, I believe it's an RJ12 ethernet plug connected with an 8 pin mini DIN male plug, found the schematic as well. I'll give it a shot to see if it's in decent condition or not, just curious. Also I assume the i1Display Pro / Colomunki Display stuff only work "manually", might consider one of those solutions if the PM 5639 isn't giving decent readings. Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
