The photos are very poor, I can’t really make out what it looks like. From the curve on the enclosure I think I may have had a couple of these many years ago. I certainly can’t remember what the box looked like.

I remember it didn’t do Dreamcast well and caused very noticeable moire patterns in checkerboard patterns. I think I replaced it with the Gefen VGA to DVI scaler plus which fared much better.

With exclusively RGB input, the only problems with those Gefen boxes are one frame of lag and no frame lock. They even scale non-line doubled 480p nicely. Those machines don't ever seem to get mentioned anymore, but they aren't that bad if you need something very cheap and don't care about frame lock. I think my Hi-Def scaler needs the remote, though. The unit has no physical buttons.

Certainly a better buy at a really low price (I wouldn't pay more than $20usd for a unit) than any cheap Chinese Amazon or aliexpress crap (that you can buy for $20).

Man you weren't kidding about Dreamcast. This device, the DC Box and my Vizio do NOT agree with each other. I'm getting a blank screen.

The device basically new sense I hadn't used it until now. I'm gonna try my PC. If I find out it doesn't work what should I do? I wanted to sell it that's why I'm testing, but if it can't work do I trash it?

I think the Gefen VGA to DVI Plus scaler can accept component with the usual assignment on the VGA's RGB lines if you don't feed any sync signals, but it's been a long time and I may be mistaken.

I think my Hi-Def scaler needs the remote, though. The unit has no physical buttons.

I have the variant labelled as "HD Mate" and it has four unused button footprints on the PCB inside. Instead of trying to locate matching buttons, I just used four subminiature panel-mountable buttons and wired them up - looks slightly wonky, but works most of the time.

Yes. Mine accepts component, but the results don't look quite right on my unit. RGB input comes out looking better. I recall reading that was a common issue with the Gefen boxes.
