CyberBlocker Complete Edition (PC/Steam)

CyberBlocker Complete Edition, a Japanese indie game released this week on Steam, is a rather fun game, that mixes shmup action with... classic block breaker gameplay.

Imagine Arkanoid, with the usual stuff (similar power-ups included). But, instead of a single paddle, you have 2. By default, they are detached, and the one below is just like you would expect (it moves, it grows with certain power-ups, ...), but it can shoot at any time. The second one you can move freely anywhere on the screen, so you use it to go hit the ball (which means, instead of waiting for the ball to come down like in most games of the genre, you actively go meet it most times on the top of the screen). But, you can also drop this second paddle all the way down, and it joins the other one, connecting side by side, and in this mode they both shoot projectiles.


Mix this with stages that are either typical of the genre, or ones that have shmup-like bosses and enemies, and an energetic dance soundtrack, and you have an addictive, high speed game, that really would have made a great title for the arcades.


If you like the genre, it's worth checking out.

Two of my favourite genres combined. Am quite enjoying this. Other folks who like the genre combo should also check out Sky Racket.

The game was updated to add achievements, and a few bonus stuff (Sound test, ...).

If you like block breakers, and shmups (dah ), this one is well worth the price tag.
I've been having a lot of fun with this one (and NeverAwake, another recently released title).

I found this quite by accident on X and came back here to enthuse about it, and found this thread. So forgive the necro-bump. This is excellent, it really is the Crimzon Clover of Blockbreakers. There's seemingly an eXA version now, too. The Steam "Complete edition" is currently €4.

Always happy to see more people "finding" this game.

It's well worth the small price tag, especially on sale.

CyberBlocker first appeared on the Switch gaming app, Smile Basic 4 from the same guy whom did Reflection Force stg & EX-Raise Emotion (a Space Harrier clone) both also on SB4 as well. CB was done by none other than KT. Software whom is no stranger to the douijin stg scene indeed.
