Radiant Silvergun ports faithful to the original releases?

Post by protivakid »

Thinking about getting the physical print of Radiant Silvergun for the switch.

I believe that for Ikaruga, albeit minor, when you compare the XBLA port to the original Naomi / Dreamcast ports that some of the enemy patterns changed and even changed further on the next Steam (Nesica) based round of ports.

Are the Switch / XBLA ports of Radiant faithful to the original Arcade / Saturn release? Or were changes made to the core game? Not talking about new features, mostly mean patterns, boss behavior, etc.

So far as I can tell (and backed up by this chart: https://shmups.wiki/library/Ikaruga#Version_differences), the Steam/Switch versions revert the changes the XBLA version made; in fact I seem to recall people saying that the Steam version might be the second most accurate Ikaruga port behind the DC release.

As to your original question, the Switch/XBLA ports of RS are gameplay accurate; the only differences to the original are graphical. Switch port does have some bugs, but is being actively patched.
