What was the first video game centered around dreams?

Anything from run & guns to modern RPGs, what else do you play?

I believe it was Little Nemo The Dream Master for the NES and Famicom which first released July 1990 in Japan and then followed by the Nemo arcade game which had also released in 1990.

but am not sure if it was trully the first one would gladly want to know.

Weird Dreams and Phobia both came out on the Amiga and C64 in 1989

Super Mario Brothers 2 turned out to have all been a dream. It came out in 1988
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

Probably not the first, but 1986's Mind Walker for the Amiga has you voyaging through someone's subconscious. Pretty interesting game and one of the few published for the Amiga by Commodore themselves.

Outside of "turning out to be a dream", the game is pretty much set up to take place in a dream world up-front.

Kinda irrelevant since it's later, but Darius 2 also has a brilliant "it was all a dream" ending:
