Lightyear and its Shmup-nodding vehicles

Post by Sturmvogel Prime »

Looks like Disney-Pixar's recent film nods not just sci-fi classics but shmups alike.

Well, you've might be familiarized with the XL-07, the Vic Viper look-alike. Mattel has just announced the "XL-07 Test Launch" vehicle. A 39.75cm long ship with the Airforce Delta Strike-esque Buzz figure.
Basically, it's the biggest Gradius toy not made by Konami.

Also, the Exceliza-Lord British-Azuma mash XL-01 also got its big size toy.

The Lord British-esque XL-14 from the second wave of HyperSpeed Series.

The XL-12 is very special since it resembles both the classic Aleste/Power Strike ship and its GG Aleste 3 counterpart.

Loved the movie. Love your post. Thank you, kind sir!

UPDATE: The XL-07 is half-price ($5.87) on Amazon (US). Just ordered it!

I nabbed the Gradius one, but I might have to complete the set. Also to note, I've already seen these on clearance at a few stores since the movie bombed so hard.
Formerly known as 8 1/2. I return on my second credit!
