So like the title suggests... I have a 14l5 that depending on where I place it in a room, the geometry alters. Either the top right corner curves upwards and the bottom is perfect, or the bottom right corner dips down and the top is perfect. I haven't noticed this happen with any other monitors and right now I'm having to walk around the room with the damn thing trying to find a sweet spot!
Anyone else notice this phenomenon with any of their monitors?
Thanks all.

Re: Geometry shifts depending on where monitor is placed in
I remember watching a YT video a while ago where the guys CRT did similar things, except the colours would change (think magnet near screen) & degaussing didn't help. I think he fixed it by replacing the degaussing coil with another one.
Before it resorts to that, is there any magnetic interference in the room or anything else that could affect it?

Yeah I get discolouration too but it goes away after degaussing so, the degaussing coil works fine. I've even tried degaussing manually with a coil but nothing helps. I adjusted the yoke slightly and applied a magnet to the tube and that's got it just about perfect, but should I have to move it from it's spot, I'll probably have to re set the magnet.
Nothing in my room that I know of, just the standard living room stuff. I know there's some steel in some of the walls as magnets stick to them but that's just clutching at straws. Pvms are built to withstand most outside interference.

Spin it in a circle on the spot and watch the geometry change?
Newer CRT have a circuit on the tube that cancels out the earths magnetic field and should produce a solid picture regards of NSEW orientation.
I still notice change in my CRT that have this circuit though.
Older ones kind of rely on initial degauss cycle to settle, as well as tuning at factory, I have found all CRT in my house have perfect geometry if the screen is facing north.
South has bad skew.
I remember the first time I went to use a TV as a cocktail monitor and had turned it on first upright before tipping it on its back and watching the screen turn into a rainbow of colors being confused as to what was happening.

It does appear to be more of a orientation issue now I look at it. I didn't have this issue til I moved house so I guess this new place has some whacky magnetic field! Super annoying but I guess I know it's not actually a hardware issue.
