Does anyone know what game this sound is from?

This is driving me nuts, I was listening to some music and I heard this synthesizer sound in the song that I'm remembering was also used in a game probably a PS1 era game or 3D shmup more likely. I thought it was from Einhander but I had a quick listen to the soundtrack and couldn't find it.

I could be way off and maybe it just appeared in a PS1 era game that wasn't a shmup but thought I'd give it a try. Sorry these sorts of things kill me and I thought it might be worth a shot asking about it here.

Don't know if it's an exact match but G Darius does use a lot of those spacey kind of synth sounds.

I went through the G Darius soundtrack a couple times just skipping around through the tracks and couldn't find a match. It gets pretty eccentric and I feel like the game I heard this from had a more laid back sound to it.

After listening to that it sounds very similar I'm impressed you could find something like that, thanks for looking into it. Its not the same sound as whats used in the song though. I'm thinking its a stock sound on a synthesizer. I might try asking on a music production forum to see if anyone recognizes what equipment was used.

Sounds like something you would hear in a puzzle game instead of a shmup.

Not exact, tonally, but I instantly started thinking of something, something, something warping into the battlefield menacingly. Turns out I was recalling Rayforce's second boss. As I say though, it's a much sharper, harsher sound overall. Cheers for the mental stimulation.

(or maybe it's just decloaking, an upper-orbit watchdog unaccounted for by Operation Meteor, even as your bros gave their lives to create a diversion. 3; ah Rayforce, ah Taito)

Damn those synths have great sci-fi sounds. I'm hearing all sorts of games and movies in the presets. I didn't hear the specific sound in the song though. Maybe I'm just missing it though in the youtube videos I found.
