Hi all,
For a while now, I've been able to push VGA out of my 980Ti on Windows 10, using Nvidia's own "custom resolution" feature. Not the most robust, but at least I was able to specify a GTF resolution of something like 1920x1200 at 85hz using it, which is one of my monitor's preset resolutions.
Lately, on certain, but not all resolutions, I get a crazy orangeish/mostly red set of colors over the entire picture at some of these custom resolutions. Whether trying to set CVT or GTF, and using preset. I verified it's not a monitor issue because it shows up using VGA out to an OLED panel as well. Using Nvidia's preset resolutions, I can achieve these, but I don't know if Nvidia does something like CVT reduced blank by default.
This is not the case in Linux, where I can use xrandr and set the same GTF/CVT resolutions and it works.
Anyone else experiencing this? I believe it must be a driver or Win 10 issue.

Re: Nvidia VGA Out with Windows 10 - Colors issue on certain
Have you tried CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) instead of nVidia's own custom resolution settings, which are super buggy?
Re: Nvidia VGA Out with Windows 10 - Colors issue on certain
I did try to add a custom resolution using CRU once, and I ended up needing to use DDU to completely remove the Nvidia drivers and try again because it ended up making me unable to boot. I've got two Nvidia cards, one is the 980 I keep around just for the VGA output and it's possible that my own human error was an issue if I didn't do it right. Perhaps I should grab the latest CRU and give it another shot.Guspaz wrote:Have you tried CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) instead of nVidia's own custom resolution settings, which are super buggy?
And yeah, Nvidia's own custom res switcher just drives me crazy. It's never been ideal.
Edit: tried CRU again, this time I imported an EDID profile for my analog output (this was generic as I'm breaking out VGA to RGBHV and into a switch, so there was no EDID profile to build from). Worked.
