I've recently discovered this gem and am very interested in playing it.
After realizing that its combat reminds me Bangai-O a bit, I've figured out that the game may be worth sharing with our community (since it seems it hasn't been mentioned here before).
I feel that it may appeal to other shmup lovers like me, as well as to someone who loves massive/multi-genre space exploration games (Master of Orion, Star Control, Space Rangers 2).
The gameplay features twin-stick style air combat, gravity landing minigame, resoruce management, battle planning, ship customizations: all packed into a mix of arcade shooting, real-time strategy, RPG-style narrative, and tactics.
AFAIK the game keeps you on your toes, and sometimes can be a bit frustrating/punishing, which is a key to why winning it feels so rewarding.
Game menus and interfaces you use to command your space artillery fleet definitely have some Fallout vibe.
The story itself is a Dune-like interplanetary military campaign, with some Russin Empire alt-history tones to it.
I especially love the sound design.
