Strategies to fix ringing on a CRT?

Post by BazookaBen »

So I'm talking about ringing caused by the electronics in the CRT itself, not bad cables.

A couple examples, they're the dark streaks to the right of bright objects:

Is there some good reading out there on troubleshooting steps to tackle this issue? Has anybody here attempted to fix this themselves?

It really depends on the TV model. It could a be power delivery issue or trace routing issue..

Consumer sets kept costs down by keeping the amount of reulated volatge circuits to a minimum.

I have modded sets in the past for lightgun games to avoid bloom. The voltage for that circuit was originally taken from close to the flyback.
When you shoot the screen flashes white this causes voltage fluctuation the sets would bloom and grow.

Now there is minimal to no bloom as I took the voltage from a section that was not near the high voltage part of the chassis.

Maybe you can look at your chassis design and see where important parts of the circuit derive their power from, im unsure what would cause ringing in your system sorry.
