What is your preferred input method / the best?

I play mostly on steam, and i jump around between the big three: Arcade stick, keyboard, and D-Pad. I find myself gravitating towards keyboard personally, but i feel d-pad has more fine control. I can't get the hang of arcade stick at all, in both shmups and fighters. Thoughts?
