Help with "faulty" Extron Crosspoint's

Post by Lifelessme »

Hello people, first i'll say I know im new here but I come here often just to read up on stuff as I prefer not making accounts unless I really need to so I have been here for awhile "technically speaking".

But anyway to the matter at hand, I have 2 Extron crosspoints that I am haveing different issues for I'll try to explain whats happend and is going on to the best of my abilitys.
Fist is Extron Crosspoint 84 HV (I think, its 8 inputs 4 outputs, I also didn't realise till I got this unit that there was a Video only units)
So this one I got awhile back when it arrived it powered on fine but after i tied the signals to what i needed before hooking up any of the other equipment to it suddenly there was a flash and everything turned off, I guess some people will already know what happend, the fuse died, I did replace the fuse with same type of fuse listed in the manual and that popped too, sadly that is as far as I got with it as I do not have the full knowledge of how to electrically test the device.

The Second is Extron Crosspoint 450 Plus HVA (12 inputs, 8 outputs)
This one I got about 2 weeks ago now and "apparently" came from a working enviroment so it was "assumed" fully functional when I bought it the seller I bought it from is currently trying to help me with this issue but they dont seem to completely know whats going on with it either. Currently when I hook it up the light on the rear of the unit lights up solid, then blinks for a second, then goes back to being solid and then it stays that way, pressing the button that the manual says is basically the power button "Video" does no illuminate the display, I assumed at this point maybe the lights inside had just died from continues use because I dont know how these work, so I checked the manual on how to tie an input to an output with this unit and tried doing it and hooked up one of my component cable units to it to check if a signal goes through but nothing atall, and thats where that ends.

I did try read through both manuals for both units fully to see if there was anything that was helpful, for the fist one the only thing I found was the fuse that was required which was great, but the 2nd unit there was nothing really helpful outside of how to tie the signals (not even anything about the reset button on the rear), was hoping for something that says about enableing/disableing the button illumination....

So I was hoping that maybe someone with better knowledge of these devices could help out with this.
I would post pictures but I wasn't sure if this forum allows image posting on first post, plus I dont currently have images, but if there is any images I can take to try and help identify the issues Just ask.

Thanks to anyone who is able to help me with this.
(also I hope this is the right location I remember seeing a post about extron repair in this area before so I assumed....)
