Hopefully someone with more understanding can help me with this... I am looking a bit more into the workings of my Playdia. So far for its video output I found out that it uses a phillips TDA8772AH/3 DAC. This DAC sends the signals over to a sony cxa1229m pal/ntsc encoder. Not really anything surprising, but...
According to the datasheets of these IC's the phillips DAC sends out rgb video. However... The datasheet of the Sony encoder labels the input pins as Y, B - Y, R - Y. If an rgb signal exits the dac, how can an ic that expects ypbpr input work with that?
Also... I'm not really experienced in measuring video signals on a scope. If I poke around in there... is there any way to recognize on my scope whether I'm looking at rgb or YPbPr? What should I be paying attention to when doing so?
