OSSC Supported Sync Types?

Post by erik343 »

I am going to buy the OSSC Pro once it is released!

I just want to know if the current OSSC device supports CSYNC, sync on luma, sync on composite, or even sync on green?

Thanks.

All of those are supported on the OSSC on the SCART and D-Sub inputs. Default for AV1 (SCART input) is RGBS (which includes luma) but you can change it via remote to RGsB. The component input also supports sync on green.

The OSSC and OSSC Pro already have their own threads, you don't need to start new threads for every question.

For any eventuality:

Although conventionally, a green colored RCA plug is used for the Y part of YPbPr (colloquially called component video), there is no green signal in YPbPr. Instead, green is inferred from the information available through Y, Pb and Pr. What travels through the Y line is actually luma and composite sync, so sync on luma it is.

he knows that - AV2 on the OSSC can be used for YPbPr OR RGsB

"Component" in this context could the generic, less-common usage, simply meaning that video components are on multiple wires, as opposed to composite video (CVBS and *shudder* RF), which mash brightness and color data onto a single wire; thus, all of YC (S-Video), YPbPr (what most people refer to as "component video"), RGsB, RGBS, and RGBHV are forms of component video.

As for what the OSSC supports, it will accept anything, so long as you have the correct voltage levels. AV1 and AV2 need video-level composite sync, while AV3 calls for TTL-level composite or separate sync for RGBS and RGBHV (although I believe many people are able to use video-level sync without issue).

Oh wow, I was indeed missing up to now that AV2 supports RGsB. Thanks for pointing that out!

My fault ^^'

Got it! Thanks, I will use the existing threads from now on...
